After seeing that movie it's a scary thought, then I think about how they can't predict the weather but somehow they know exactly what would happen if this shift would ever actually happen..

well they can't entirely predict how its going to happen or how bad but by using data from the tsunami from a couple years ago, and the recent discovery by using ocean floor samples they've been able to estimate how many of these massive quakes have happened over time and they know that on average it happens every 260 some years or so and the last one was some 350+ years ago.

sadly there's no way to know when it'll happen, just that we know its bound to happen at some point.

I learned about this in college and it's just a matter of time before it hits. The earthquake isn't the worst part, it's the tsunami and how the infrastructure in the NW isn't prepared and will completely collapse both figuratively and literally. It's some scary sh*t.
