Seriously enough though, the r32 GTR ihmo, is one of the greatest cars ever made, picking up after the e30 M3. Based on track records, its hard to argue.

I would do as much research as I could especially knowing a good mechanic with experience on these motors. I once had a co-worker from Alberta forced to keep his GT-R in his parents garage because he went broke and could not fix it. I never asked what went wrong but I figure it was an even nastier situation if he lived in the boonies. I always wanted a late model RX-7 but it was a bit of a turn off knowing the only recommended mechanic was an hour's drive away.
GTR's, I'm sure are reliable but a 325is on the side would be a pretty sweet backup car!

Looks like gtst. The grille is wrong for a gtr unless someone swapped it.

I've always wanted a R32 GT-R ever since I saw the "Shinigami" in Initial D. Though the BRZ is new, has a nicer interior, warranty, is light, and has easy availability on parts. Although in my personal experience the engines in the twins aren't the strongest either.

I had a GT-St before and now I have an FRS. I enjoy the FRS much more than I have ever enjoyed the GT-St. But the R32 GT-R is a whole different creation. If i can ever get one in CA, I wouldn't hesitate (given, the prices are right). R32 GT-R is legendary. The GT-St, not so much. The rawness, the sound, the feel of a GT-R is in my opinion, unmatched to any Japanese car of its era. I am biased because I work closely with Scion and Toyota. But I praise the R32 GT-R.

Ken, get in touch with Sean Morris. I'm sure he'd be able to help you out easily in regards to getting a GTR32 in CA.

I bet I could get a good r32 gtr for like $8000 CAD landed! Maybe even cheaper since people are offloading them now because nobody can find decent rhd insurance coverage without getting ass raped.

Yup, I know Sean. I am aware of Import a Vehicle, located in Ontario, CA whom imports cars from Japan via 25-year exemption law. CA and Hawaii seem to be the most difficult states to register these cars. California has CARB, which requires cars newer than 1975 to be smog checked. So, post-importation into California, CA residents who wish to register their cars (legally) must still abide CARB inspection. A fucking PITA, if you ask me. Probably another 7-12K alone after importation fees.

if you find one in the future, already imported and on the cheap id go for it, but the frs/brz is a better buy. Dont blow all your money on chasing the dream.

I want to import a car at some point aswell but i plan on having at least one other car to drive around in addition to it. Youll kick yourself all day long for getting into a car that ends up having maintenance issues out the ass, and then you cant even get to work to pay for said fixes with out phoning a buddy/lady/family member. All worst case scenario speaking of ocurse but something you should certainly consider.

Can is say one thing! When keeping it real goes wrong!!! A good BNR32 or BNCR33 will set you back around 3.000.000 Yen for either a full tune example or a low mileage one, up to you where you want to spend your money at.

A few examples's, and no 8000 Canadian ain't going to cover. More like 50.000 Canadian dollars.

Sure, pristine examples will command the money. There's no disputing that. That's with any car. Here are some rough examples for low money in my local classifieds:

Beat up R32 GTR: $7500 CAD

R33 GTR: $14500
