Letting spouse drive

I am sleepy while we are driving home from Vegas, so letting my wife drive us in my BRZ for a shift. Please say a prayer for me.

How do you guys feel about letting your spouse drive your baby for the first time? Fear and trepidation? Or no biggie?

In general with our cars, no biggie.

She's never learned a MT, so I don't have to make that choice with the 86!

I swear that trying to teach someone to drive stick is putting your relationship to the test! My wife is capable of driving stick but prefers not to. Especially in town or in traffic conditions. She hasn't driven either the FRS or WRX but when we had our civic she was more than capable of getting around. It's just that she's kind of a klutz and regularly forgets where the gears are. I'm deathly afraid of her shifting into a much lower gear on the highway and overrevving the motor to death. One time in a parking lot she tried starting the car in 3rd gear and since then I haven't let her drive. I'm a terrible impatient husband.

My wife hates driving my car as she doesn't know how to take driveways at an angle and is afraid of scraping the front. She's used to our Outback and not worrying about speed bumps etc.

Letting spouse drive

I taught my wife in my 2001 Impreza 2.5RS before she ordered her MINI. She ordered her S with a 6MT and has driven it for over a decade.

Be understanding and teach your wife. Be patient.

As an aside, my wife doesn't drive my FR-S often, but it was pretty sexy the few times she has.

I plan on teaching my wife how to drive manual in my car. If she destroys the clutch, it's still under warranty.

More likely she will grind the gears, pull up too close to a curb and scrape your bumper, squeeze into a parking space and get dinged on the door. Don't worry brah.

My wife drives my car no problem. She just doesnt like it, says "she can feel every single amoeba on the road".
I even "made her" drive it half-way across the state to the track and back for me once.

When she bought her Passat TDI, she specifically asked for MT and she drives it through the snow too.
Ive even thought about getting her a vintage racecar, but I'm not sure I could handle being on the track with her (she might punt me off for something I cant even remember doing... )

Well, I reckon your wife is a better driver ..... than you are, when you are sleepy.

Just put the seat back all the way back, stuff a cushion/pillow behind your neck, close your eyes ...... it will be Okaaaa ......
