I have seen both the MX-5 Cup car and a 2016 MX-5 Club version in person. IMO they look better in person than in photos but I like the styling of the car in both.

I seem to remember some people on this very forum saying the FR-S and BRZ had fishy looking faces too when the production versions were shown.

I've seen the regular 2016 Miata in person up in Angeles Crest Highway last month. It looked like a Lotus in person moving. It was sweet.

Saw one last week with the top down in gray near South Coast Plaza. I totally agree with @strat61caster the proportions are really off. He's right about opening up the headlights, instead of trying to force them to look more aggressively pinched. Also, the body lines of the Miata seem to fall off in a graceless disjointed way. The front fascia is plain awful. The rear taillight treatment pinches inwards horribly and makes the car looks cheap sitting next to other cars (not even the bigger wheels/tires, lower stance, and BBK from the Club version saves this). I think Fiat will do a better job with the 124 (render from spy shots below).

If* the rumor mil is true, and the next gen 86s will use the ND chassis, I am glad I have a 1st gen twin.

i dont know why. the nd is probably better in a lot of ways simply due to age and priorities. i cant see the car doing well with a boxer motor and double wishbones all taking up space however

That rumor was started by motoring.com.aus . Need I say more? A week later they reported that Mazda had emphatically denied the rumor. My theory is they made both stories up.

I like the miatas, but I just can't get over the "Donald Trump lips" the miata has for a front grille. Every other aspect of it is great but the front looks like its got this stupid drug induced squished lips kind of thing going on, compounded by the squinty eye headlights. For that reason alone, I will never own one. I may on occasion... borrow my buddies.

Disappointed in Mazda's pricing... I recently sold my 99 Miata great car, but not to share the driveway with my BRZ. I'd consider a new Miata if it came in under 30k with a decent suspension package and LSD.. But for 40k... (Canada here) It better come with RHT, and a rollbar on top of the LSD and suspension..

I was thinking the same thing. Personally, the fixed hardtop and extra seats add a lot of value to me. I couldn't imagine spending +30k on a club miata considering its performance:practicaility ratio.I know the 86 isn't an ideal family hauler, but it can handle a lot of daily driver duties. The miata is more of a weekend toy. If I could get a full refund on my car, I would still pick the 86 over the ND. Obviously not everyone cares about cargo space and a fixed roof.

Looks good lowered with wheels. But I guess on anything it does. Also take note that low angles make any car look good. I actually like the white one.

I'm so happy that the car is finally good looking to me. I was never a fan of the looks of the NA,NB,and NC. This one finally has sharper curves vs the softer curves of prior generations.

Because I prefer the longer wheel-base of my BRZ.

Man I'm so glad Toyota went with the Subaru Boxer Engine, that ND Miata hood line and belt line are terribly high.
