The rivals were not available at dixie...the stones had JUST become available like 3 days before

We will run the rivals at nationals in the dry.

Yes, only the Bridgestones were available in March when Dixie and SD tours occurred. The Rivals were available in April in time for College Station & Crows Landing.

This was plenty early in the season and well before Spring Nationals where Bridgestones won like 12 to 1.

I was going to post this in the for sale section but figured I'd see if anyone who auto crosses in SoCal is interested first -

I live in and autocross in San Diego, but I'll be @ El Toro Field this weekend and I'll be driving on my current dedicated autocross set-up: OEM wheels (no TPMS) with ZII Star Specs 245/40/17 on all 4. Approximately ~30-40% life left on the tires; Tire life can definitely be extended by flipping them (inside to outside).

I've got new wheels/tires coming in to replace my dedicated set up, so my dedicated setup is for sale (after the Saturday practice is over ). I was planning to drive to and back from the event with my autoX set up, but, if anyone in the OC/LA area is interested in buying these, I'll bring my daily driver wheels/tires for the drive back to SD.

Send me a PM if interested. I will be there Saturday all day. Sunday I am undecided but I'll probably be there on that day as well.

Question from a newbie here...

Will these Motegi SP10 wheels work for the tire sizes run in C street(up to 245/40/17)?
Or am I better off going with the RPF1's?

Yeah, they should fit just fine for a 245 on a 7".

Out of curiosity, why are you going with the SP10 over lighter options like the RPF1 or Kosei K1 TS and K4R?

They'll work for the tires without any problems. The wheel itself is technically not legal because the offset is 1mm too far from the stock size allowances. That's why I eliminated buying this wheel a couple years ago.

Mostly. It's what I use. One thing to take note of, though:

Factory offset is +48, those are +40. So, to be stritcly legal, you'd have to do some machining to get back to the allowed +41 offset. I did that to mine, (back to +42 since that was the rule last year) and it ended up being $250 for two sets. Not free, but being able to take the wheels from the traded-in civic and make them work for at least the next 5 years for $250 ain't bad.

Small upside - no spacers or extended lugs required while still taking full advatage of the allowance.

The Koseis can be had for essentially the same price, even lower if you find a decent used set, and will weigh 2.5-3lbs less than the Motegis. Just a thought.

Installed TRD springs today with stock Showa FRS struts. Was able to get -2.0 camber on one side and -2.1 on the other. So around .2 to .3 more neg camber with the TRD springs. Car sure feels flatter and more responsive, even with stock struts!

Interesting. What equipment are you using to measure camber?

I have a Tenhulzen Automotive camber gauge. Supposed to be accurate to 0.1. Very repeatable results. I do my own alignment adjustments.

Did you happen to measure your camber before installing the springs? I'm assuming the car is stock other than the TRD springs and OEM crash bolts?

Also, you said "Installed TRD springs today with stock Sachs FRS struts" Did you install TRD springs AND new struts? Or were the Sach FRS Struts already on the car?

What are Sach FRS Struts btw? are they the OEM struts that come with the car or are they OEM replacements?

You're the first to report these results, so it's important that things don't get lost in translation

Sachs is a German brand and oem supplier for VW. I'm not sure anyone has measured camber with stock struts and springs except 1 guy and he said he got 1.9.
