ECUtek RaceROM Think Tank
Seeing as there is nothing on here already I though I'd set up this thread for RaceROM feature ideas. Looking for things like:
- Base Feature Settings (LC/FFS/Auto-Blip etc) - Custom Map Settings & Ideas - Any other ECUtek tuning ideas I know there aren't likely to be many with the RaceROM upgrade but even the base feature settings can be edited to good effect. When I get my laptop I'll post up some settings I've been trying. Some ideas and bit's I've been trying: - Custom FFS and Auto-Blip - Sharper throttle for different map modes - Ignition retard based on changes in throttle angle and manifold pressure - Closed Loop Fuel Control on WOT Having issues with setting up the CL fuel control as I am using integral based feedback so if anyone has any ideas then let me know.

It would be nice if my car start with TC OFF and on last used map.
Also if it would be possible to start car only after/during pressing some existing button (anti-theft feature). |

This is now possible with the latest RaceROM patches.I have it on mine.

Custom Ignition Retard/Tip In Fuel
Similar theory so I'll combine ignition retard and tip in tables.
Idea: Changes in throttle angle and manifold pressure reduce ignition timing and/or increase delivered fuel. How: Axes: Delta Throttle Angle: I have used a range of ~0-30 as this is what is used on the stock transient tip in table Delta Manifold Pressure: 0-1 Output: Ignition retard: Multiply the base ignition timing by the table output. At 0/0 I have a value of 1. At maximum throttle angle and manifold pressure change change I have 0.1. The rest is interpolated so the table is a flat angle. Tip In Fuel: Multiply the total fuel quantity by the table output. At 0/0 the value would be 1. The rest of the table would show increased values as the changes become larger. Other Considerations: The base timing map needs to be 0 or above for the ignition retard map to work properly. If there are any areas where you are likely to hit negative values then the multiplication will actually add timing. You can get round this by compensating the advance table and ensuring no negative values in the stock base timing tables. I have created this spreadsheet to allow you to do this quickly. The standard tip in and retard tables will need to be adjusted. I have a couple of options as to how you could do this: - 0 out the tables - Flatten the tables to a set minimum value - Reduce the values by a set percentage (like to 10% of the original values) Remember the ignition timing transient fix over 5600 RPM, so zeroing this area may not be best practice. Therefor you would want to consider doing a couple of the above to the original table. Example Map ![]() X Axes = Delta Throttle Angle Y Axes = Delta Manifold Pressure

always an unanswered question to me was why stock map has an consistent AFR (fix 12.17) at wot but in tuned map the afr change at WOT.

Because the stock O2 sensor scaling bottoms out at that value. Most aftermarket tuners have a go at extending it to below that.

Custom Closed Loop Fuel Control
Idea:
Closed loop fuel control in standard open loop operation mode. This is possible with both WBO2 and stock O2 sensor. Requirements: WB02 sensor or a well scaled stock O2 sensor. A number of Custom Maps are needed depending on the chosen mode of accuracy. How: Custom Map 1 Fueling Target Map - This can be set to be a portion of the map like WOT only or a replica of the standard open loop fuel map. Set up delays or activation parameters as required. I have mine set to be active above 75 degrees throttle angle so it's only active when under WOT. Axes: Options are: Engine Load / RPM MAP / RPM Output: Set as calculation only. Custom Map 2 Fueling Correction Map - This can either be a proportional map or set as integral. I prefer integral control however it has it's shortcomings in the current patch. See below. You will need to set delays or activation parameters to ensure that this will not interfere with standard CL operation. For example active when custom map 1 is below 13.99 if it's a replica of your OL fuel map. You may also chose to delay by a short period to ensure no conflict. I have mine set with the same activation at Custom Map 1. Axes: Options are: Custom Map 1 / WBO2 Sensor Input (From another Custom Map) Custom Map 1 / Lambda % (Stock O2) Proportional control is just creating a map of Custom Map 1 divided by O2 sensor input. Integral values need to be much smaller but in a similar vein - I have set it to 5% of the proportional map. Integral control requires a min and max setting, I suggest 0.9/1.1. There will be a initial value parameter added soon and I have it set to 1. Output: If this is your final output then multiply Total Fuel Quantity by map output or by integral output. If you want Custom Map 3 then set as calculation only. Custom Map 3 RPM delay correction - used to reduce compensation when engine speeds are lower due to the delay from cylinder to sensor. This prevents overswing on the correction. Add the same activation parameters as Custom Map 2. This is only really worthwhile if using integral control. Axes: Options are: Custom Map 2 / RPM Values from Custom Map 2 are to be reduced at lower RPM. I would suggest that all values above 4000RPM at the latest mirror the input from Custom Map 2. Output: Multiply Total Fuel Quantity by map output. Other Considerations: Fueling error is to be as good as possible before starting this. Either ensure a well scaled MAF sensor or that your output AFR is as close to your Custom Map 1 as possible. My integral map is only active on WOT and has built in delay compensations, as I'll be leaner at lower RPM the values are less aggressive than those at richer commanded values. Example Maps ![]() Map 1: X Axis: RPM Y Axis: IAT Map 2: X Axis: Custom Map 1 Output Y Axis: Lambda (%)

Custom CEL Light Warning
Idea:
Light the CEL as an easy indicator of extremes. How Create a set map with axes of parameters that you would like warnings on. This can be 2D or 3D to allow a combination of 1 or 2 parameters to be warned of. Obvious examples would be coolant temp, oil temp, IAT and even RPM. In the enable screen check the light CEL when map is active. My suggestion is to fill any cells where you want the CEL to trigger with 1. You then set the activation parameters to allow the table to only become active when the values are over a set value, for example 0.99. If you want a simple single parameter warning, just pick a small table and set the activation parameter to the one you want the warning for. The table contents will be irrelevant in that scenario. To make it worthwhile you could do temp vs RPM so that it will only become active if you're at higher RPM. Output: Set as calculation only. Other Considerations: You could use this map to also feed into another map to reduce power when the CEL illuminates. Example Maps ![]() X Axis - IAT Y Axis - Oil Temp

Reviving an old thread, but decided to finally build myself an ECUtek tuning box. 5V supplied by a USB connection and uses RJ45 connections:
![]() ![]() ![]() This is wired direct to my ECU to vary the CPC and Rear O2 inputs, meaning variable control of custom maps: ![]() The plan is to make another cable for connecting direct to the rear O2 input in the engine bay which means I'm able to use for testing in another car without disconnecting from my ECU.

I just picked up RaceRom - Currently have the base Perrin Map for my Vortech setup, have to figure out how to get from 0 to there again lol.
