Ok so my EL dash has never worked in my 10 series. I'm looking at wiring in my own basic lighting with 2 wires, and would like the least invasive route. The existing wiring for the panel basically consists of the switch, controller, and EL panel. There's 3 potential reasons why it doesn't work in the first place. So, I would greatly appreciate anyone willing to advise the easiest, least invasive wiring.

-Try to wire to switch using existing wiring
-If that doesn't work, wire straight power/ground to be always on.

Specifics would be fantastic, and trying to use existing connectors to avoid splicing. Here's a schematic:

Try cool under the kneeboard under the steering wheel. There's a flip switch which controls the lighted dash. It might just be switched off. Sit down, place your hand between your leg and the steering column. I found out that the dealership didn't even know about it.

Have flipped switch on several occasions; after disconnecting battery, flashing with OFT. My dealership looked at the book and did the same. They then told me it would take a full day to take the dash apart and I would have to leave it overnight, and they would not provide a rental.
Here's what they really said: We don't know anything about the feature, and it's not worth our time and effort.

Has anyone figured what fuse it's connected to in case it's a fuse burn out?

Fuses for this system are behind the radio. Mine has been dead for a few years now and I am working making my own controller for the system.
