I actually know this story.

John Lennon was told that an English teacher in Liverpool was analyzing his song lyrics for his literature class. John thought that this was preposterous, so he set out to write a song that literally made no sense at all. The result was "I am the Walrus". After recording the song, John was quoted as saying, "There. Let the f***er figure that one out." There was a clue provided, though. The lyric, "Yellow matter custard dripping from a dead dog's eye" was from a playground rhyme popular with elementary school boys in Liverpool; it was there to tip off the English teacher, but he didn't notice it or didn't understand the hint.

To me, the song is like a musical Rorschach test. Even if you know it's intentional gibberish, your mind still tries to find meaning in it.

I have seen the freakn' things in trees before and nobody put them there. They are really crappy climbers but they are very persistent when they want to get someplace.

Somehow I doubt the tortoise made it up there on its own.

It is actually a turtle not a tortoise (Barbour Map Turtle to be exact) and although highly unlikely it is not impossible he got there himself. His bigger issue at that point would be getting back off! I have had pet turtles for 50 years and have seen them scale the side of a glass aquarium and make a break for it. Once they get an idea in mind they stick with it and failure is not an option.
