This can not be fix, I went to 5 different body shop and countless dealer visits, it is a design problem from the factory, and the dealer is not doing anything about it. You can pop bumper back in place, but it will fall out when you drive. We should gather together and fill legal action about this.

Hey Guys. Sorry. Just getting back to U. My 6 yr old busted my phone after downloading the Movie TED.......
So, I took it took it to the guy. They apologized up and down but said they didn't secure the clips in the front under the light. It was just the Driver side but threw the passenger a lil bit out of wack of course.
The piece is kind of shaped like a hockey stick that goes around the light but could not really see it too good.
It is on the Diagram. Anyway, they popped it back in and it is better But, I am still not Crazy about how it fits in the 1st place. I think Subaru could of did a lil better securing the Bumper during production. The rubber piece on the sides seem back a lil too much. Any one else have this issue. I will try to shoot a pic. My 3 kids r still up raising hell on a school night. Time to get a switch and go Joe Jackson on them.
Take Care.

Push with you left hand from the inside out as you set bumper in clips.. Hope that helps! It won't just push straight in, you have to almost wrap it around the car as you snap it in.
I removed my front bumper to install a Perrin oil cooler. I was a little worried about getting the bumper back on, but the above method worked for me. Basically:

1) Have someone supporting the bumper in the middle.
2) Start with the right side.
3) Pull the far right end of the bumper back towards you, while inserting the clips beneath the headlights.
3) Apply the bumper "like vinyl" and work towards the clips near the right sidemarker until all right clips are in place.
4) Move to the left side and have your helper pull on the grill towards the left.
5) Pull the far left end of the bumper back towards you, while inserting the clips beneath the headlights.
6) Apply the bumper "like vinyl" and work towards the clips near the left sidemarker until all left clips are in place.

I had to do this once or twice to get it right. When you get it right, if you try to remove the bumper after that, you'll feel the clips under the headlights snap out.

Some quick and dirty (literally) shots - excuse the unwashed car.

going to take it to the dealer... mine popped out on the second day we owned it, the front lips was not installed yet and to date I have not remove my bumper or hit anything. I'm sure the stealership will try and blame me of course but we will see what happens very sad indeed.

Experiencing this same problem now on mine. Took it to the dealership and mentioned the possibility of missing clips or worn down clips and they told me that I was wrong and they just needed to realign it. Of course there was the subtle side note on their end that my lowered car and the fact that I've had the bumper removed for headlight work might have helped create the problem...

So they tell me it'll cost $160 for labor and time. I originally say no, but the gap gets worse over time and I have to ship my car to Hawaii (moving for work) so I'm running out of options and don't want the damn bumper to fall off in transit somehow.

I allow them to do the work and they tell me I'm missing 3 clips and that's probably why it won't hold the alignment. THEN I get my car back and it LITERALLY looks exactly the same as when I dropped it off. I didn't even have time to lose my mind because a flatbed was already on its way to pick my car up at this point after they kept my car for a couple days.

I hope a TSB comes out or something so I can stop by Toyota in Hawaii and finally fix it...it looks so cheap.

It is a design problem from the start, even the dealer align the bumper, it will fall out again when you drive the car.

The dealer will do everything they can to blame your driving and mods.
I confront them with their new cars in the lot with the same problem, they just ask me to leave.

I was installing the JRSC kit and was wondering the same too. Couldnt wait and had to go out to home depot and purchase the parts needed and guess what. With the SC intercooler pipes and all it fits!

Here are some photos of the project and excuse the mess as i was sorta in a hurry to get this done! Plus the bumper sits flawlessly and Thanks for the original post and idea for this!

That's awesome!!! The holes on the plastic tray and crash bar are existing? Any recommendations on what size threaded rods to get? So basically this method works because it pulls the plastic tray up, thus giving the sagging bumper more support?

I used 1/4 threaded rod from home depot. I got one and cut it it was enough.

used 1/4 titanium drill bit and a smaller drill bit to get it going. After installing it and checking it does seem a whole lot more sturdier than from factory and you can adjust the nuts to get it where you want. i used washers and 2 nuts on each end. forgot what they were called they sell 1/4 size washers but slightly bigger maybe size of a quater or smaller. use them on the bottom of the plastic tray for a bit more surface support with bigger washer. I will update if i run into any other problems with my bumper, just got back from little tujunga canyon and seems to be fine for now.

tried to use the existing holes but there was no way to get behind it with a wrench to hold a nut on the passenger side. drivers side should be fine. also if you use the preexisting holes you would have to either modify the Styrofoam so fit with the metal rod or ditch the Styrofoam(don't recommend).

Excellent! Thank you for the info!
I was also afraid it won't work - the pipes are in that same area, but looks like they don't even touch any new mounting hardware. I guess it's time for me to remove that bumper again, and finally fix it!

Just for clarification, you had to drill new holes on the plastic tray as well? How much of the plastic tray do you think you 'lifted up' from its resting position? 1/4 inch? Please keep us posted if the bumper pops back out.

not sure how much. I used the bottom mounting brackets on the inter cooler for reference point. i think i pulled it up just so its kissing the bottom mounts. and its sturdy. Went on some canyon, 70+ mph driving and seems to be good.
