CEL and Slip Light DTC P0353

greddy turbo kit @ 5psi...every thing else stock.

Plugs looked pretty fried, the gaps had increased on one of the plugs noticeably coz of being boosted i suppose....20K km on the odo, less than 2k of boosted.Red hot tip mostly coz of my octane booster i used once in a while, fuel quality is shit here..

After the 1st P0353 replaced number 3 coil and all the four spark plugs ....stock once just re-gaped them 0.28, the car drove great no symptoms of anything..floored it all the way to 7k rpm, spirited driving all was till i switched the car off went to the store for the 5 min switched it back on but it had a hard start CEL came back on rough idle, limp mode was intermittent...cruised @ 3k rpm for a bit and it idles fine but CEL stayed on,no slip light....looks heat related problems temps get very hot in the desert....

gonna check on all direct injectors next....HOPE IT ENDS THERE...

Any one else with similar issues....hope not lol...

Did you do a tune with the turbo or just running on stock?
Heat very possibly your problem (don't have much of that issue here in Canada).
What temperature do you normally run at? Turbo can increase the heat under the hood more then you would think.

@Tcoat thanks for chiming in... it's tuned on ECUTEK ...I don't have my under panels installed thinking about the heat soak in the engine bay...my intake temp at WOT is really hot my tuner said...oil temps hit almost 100'C at spirited driving have an oil cooler installed temps drop to 80-90 while cruising... Gonna check on my DI and see what's up...

Got the same CEL today. Can I ask what was the end result of your issue?

Mostly coil and spark plug at #3...if this doesn't solve your problem, check if you getting proper signal on th engine harness pin for coil plug #3.

I wasn't getting proper signal at my harness. So I tapped the wire coming from the ECU in the engine bay AC31 I think and connected it to coil #3 harness pin and problem solved.

Make sure the signal coming from the ECU is solid.

It's the heat soak in the engine bay and from the over pipe combined with real hot weather. Harness going haywire.

Hope this helps.

Thanks very much. I appreciate the detail. I changed the coil in cylinder 3 (added Reflect-a-gold tape to it just to be safe) and the car is running stronger than ever. It took about 5 minutes of running before the car felt full strength. This could have been the ECU learning. In any case that worked like a charm.

Okay great it worked out. Am on my 3rd set of coils and spark plugs for #3. But dint work out for me the 3rd time by just replacing it with a new coil and plug. Drive her for 10min, it dives into limp mode. Had to hard wire the harness.

So how detrimental is this? Does anybody know? Just got the code P0353. I'm on OFT stage 2 tune with OFH. I'm guessing it's not because of the tune and that it's just weak point in these engines.

I've read through several threads and no one seems to mention if one needs to immediately bring it to the dealer and/or stop driving it until I can get it fixed. Just not sure how detrimental this code is

Just thought I'd reach out to the community
