Michael Heinitz has run the V720 locally on his STF RSX and did back to back with the Rival S. Said the times were on par. Supposedly the sidewalls felt a lot stiffer too. Might be good for camber challenged cars, I would think...

Any recommendations for tire pressures on stock size ZII on somewhat loose pavement and about 80F temp tomorrow?
I've done two other events on these tires but one day was 35F and the other was about 50F and raining, so this will be my first dry and hot day on them.

Looked like a really close fight at the Ohio pro - top 8 drivers (out of 13) were covered by less than 1.5 seconds. Seemed like a short course though with dry times dropping under 30 seconds.
I'm curious what Sean's feedback is, but based on finishing 7th I don't think he was happy with the 215s. His 60' and reaction times were good, but then you have the rest of the course to run... |

Or maybe I should just buy a car with a double wishbone up front and not camber challenged so I'm not killing the shoulders at every event. |

My RE71s have about 120 runs on them with another 20 or so runs left on them. That includes paying to get them flipped and rotating them regularly. Without the flip they wouldn't have gone more than 80.
For comparison, my current set of RS3s have about 120 runs on them now and I think I can get another 60 runs before I need to think about flipping them. I probably won't do it this time because the rubber gets heat cycled, but the last set I did that on had over 300 runs before they ran out of rubber. Grip degraded as the runs piled on but I didn't have to worry about cording them until I got to 300 runs The RS3s aren't as good as an RE71, but still that is 180 vs 80 runs (no flip) or 150 vs 300 (with flip). That is wearing out twice as fast as the RS3. Number of competitive runs might be similar (100-150-ish), but I can still use a tire with rubber left on them for practice/locals and not worry about cords. Between two (sometimes three) drivers each event and going to 3-6 events each month, tire costs add up big time. I would prefer a longer lasting tire when possible, assuming some same ball park level of competitiveness. |

If the compound is competitive, the stiffer sidewall will always be a huge benefit for strut cars. I am pretty far down the rabbit hole for set up so far with Bridgestones, but I will buy a set of V720s after Nats for sure. |
