TRD Quickshifter Problems
Hey guys, so I have a dealer installed TRD Quickshifter. It's been fine up until last night. Immediately noticed lots of play and rattle, and even play while in gear. Within minutes of it happening I suddenly lost ability to shift into 1st or 2nd; and could only shift into them from a stationary position after forcing into the reverse gear and gently out.
Something definitely feels loose and the transmission has had no other issues. I'm assuming it's a loose bolt or pin, but it's incredibly frustrating to deal with. Any ideas before I pop it open or take it to the dealership? |

Did you use loctite on the adapter bolt?? If not, it probably came loose (i.e. not seated correctly, not tightened enough, etc.). Seems to be a common issue, but not to what you are describing, just becoming sloppier over time. I had to tighten my adapter bolt again after the initial install once I had put some use into the part.

Sorry, I missed the part about having the shifter dealer installed. If you're uncomfortable investigating yourself, take it back to the dealer stat and let them deal with it.

Ended up taking it to the dealer since it's covered by warranty. I have the ability to fix it but I'd rather have the installer fix it themselves.

No idea. They haphazardly "fixed" the problem and it's still loose as hell. Basically got the run around and they tried to blame my weighted shift knob. I have to go back in on Monday for them to fully fix it. Absolutely mad as can be as to how badly they handled such a simple process.

As I reported in another thread, for some installations the head of the shift linkage can cause the bolt to roll out of place; even with loctite. This binding motion from head to bolt causes the backing out and eventually failure. The last one I worked on needed some "clearancing" so there wouldn't be an issue going through the gears. 1st and 2nd usually are the culprits for the binding angle.
