Don't hold your breath! I had them for all of a week last year. Blamed the tank of gas but in hindsight I now realize it was the only really hot week we had since I got it in late summer.

I just bought a 2013 BRZ Premium with 20K miles. I was going to post that I didn't have crickets on whatever the dealer put in the car, but after I filled up with Exxon Premium, they appeared. Then I realized thats enough of a "me too" to probably not add anything to the overall communal knowledge.i

So, I'm going to take my car to a dealer and see what's up. I can't properly find a video with said sound.
Unfortunately, I have to take some aftermarket parts...this isn't going to be fun.

My friends BRZ, who got it 3 months before me, is perfectly fine. No crickets.

My personal video of "crickets"

My FRS has crickets deluxe, mucho grillos, الصراصير الكثير, beaucoup grillons, 很多蟋蟀, פיל קריקאַץ, wiele świerszcze, mye sirisser...

I could go on.

I got 'em, full-time, and I don't care.
5 minutes of research when I first got my FRS last year gave me all the background I needed on the potential causes, impacts and "fixes".

I chalk this up to being just another unique and benign quirk of a car that I absolutely love. My wife has an Accord that absolutely does not have ANY quirk - whatsoever. It's refined to the Nth degree. It's just perfect.

I'll keep my FRS.

^ dude that's funny lol

But ya mine don't have crickets unless I get bad gas & stuff. I know all the gas station in my city that doesn't cause crickets so I only fill up at those.

After owning mine since November of 2012, gone through 1 fuel pump and said F it, the crickets are here to stay. Tried all sorts of things from changing gas stations, adding Lucas upper cylinder lubricant, etc. Nothing is consistent. The only thing that is consistent is when its hot outside, they tend to be much more prominent. Less likely when it's colder out, but they still can occur.

Nothing wrong with the pump thankfully, but even after this much time has passed, there are days I still pull up next to people and I'm thinking, "I wonder if they are thinking what the hell is wrong with that car?"

I've been using BP in Indianapolis and the only time I had crickets is when I switched. Has anyone tried shell v power nitro plus (supposedly new)?

Yes. It made the cricketing louder than I've ever heard it. (led me here)

I just tried it myself and it made cricket sounds after. Can't wait to burn through this gas and switch back.

Forgot this thread existed, so small update.

Was at Alki beach over here in Seattle last weekend. I turned the car on and heard sounds coming from the front of the car. Put my ear near the hood then opened it. Low and behold, chirping sounds! It was not as prominent sounding as in Panda's video. Thought it was one of the belts or something, then remembered the chirping issue.

-Same gas station, same pump every time
-Almost 900 miles on the odo currently
-Really hot last weekend

Brushed it off and kept driving. No chirping sounds since Saturday. If it does come back, I'll just turn my annoying techno and eurobeat up louder! xD

I guess everyone has accepted the chirp crickets. Doesn't sound like people get their hpfp replaced anymore.

Had these little buggers with my 13 FR-S and now they've migrated to my 15 RS 1.0. This is by far the funniest (annoying) chirp made by a car. Is this really gas related? I've used Shell, Chevron, ARCO, and I'm in California with the stupid summer blend. No difference there either. My 13 had 9800 on the odo when I got it and they were already there. On my 15 they found me around 500 miles or so. Now I'm waiting for the shifter vibration-rattle and the circle will then be complete.
