There is a difference performance wise. Sound wise, you hear the grumble but it's not much louder. Waiting on my tank yo empty to switch e85.

I've read on a few forums that CNT doesn't really use 304 steel.
Can you take a magnet to it and see if it sticks or not?

Does this really matter? I always wonder why people are super focused on the best quality stainless when the cars themselves come with aluminized steel. Even a lower quality SS is most likely a better material than the exhaust that the vehicle came with.

Of course it matters! Why should anyone lie about what it's made of? And lower quality SS is NOT most likely better than the stock exhaust.. it's more brittle and it's potential to crack is higher over heat cycles.

You're kind of missing my point here. They definitely shouldn't lie about using 304, but there are different grades of 304. I'm sure that CNT is not using the most expensive and durable grade, but even a 'lower grade' 304 or even other lower grades of stainless are still both more expensive and durable than the aluminized steel that our stock exhausts are made of. For $349, if the header outperforms and outlasts the stock piece, that's good enough for me. Even though I know other companies may be using superior grades of stainless

I think you answered the question of does it matter right here. The header has to withstand intense heat, tension, expansion/contraction, and other forces of man and nature.

Being a quality grade of steel doesn't guarantee that the header will be able to perform and last but it certainly adds some confidence. The OEM header was designed and tested to last so I have no worries about it being of lower grade steel. This header off the boat from China on the other hand, not so much.

Aside from that, I'm sure its useful information for those with winters and salted roads.
