Something something, slow and steady...

Added the OEM (2015 Forester) oil cooler. Also discovered another exhaust leak so I haven't been able to acurately test it. So far boosted, I'm seeing a 5F drop in average temps, quite a bit quicker warmup and heatsoaking after pushing it hard. But, for less than $200 and a couple hours in the garage I'm happy. It is no replacement for a full air to oil cooler though.

About the turbo exhaust leak. Might be a bigger issue than I wanted. Contacted LJ/Full Blown and had them overnight another T3 gasket. After a few hours it didn't seem to help. I already also ordered another gasket just in case. This time it is GrimSpeed's 5-layered MLS one! This made a night and day difference but I can still feel a tiny bitcomming through the flange. I'm going to let her go a few days/couple heat cycles, retorque the bolts and see how it is. Worst case senario I'm going to have to have the header/turbo flange resurfaced/milled. Which at that point I may order a rirculating one and swap to a larger turbo with a full v-band setup... damnit wallet!

As far as the bumper it is a bit of a headache. Turns out fitment wasn't very good in key areas and it, itself will require a lot of work to be presentable... and that is before modifying it. I bit the bullet and jumped on the Move-Over Racing bumper release pre-order and hope it will give me a solution to fit the bumper and take an easier route with the sidemarker area.

The led light add-on they present on the page and have shown in the preview pictures are universal and do not fit nor were supposed to apparently. Due to this I was offered a refund credit off the bumpers price.

While waiting for parts I did decide to start on reworking the center section of the bumper. I'd decided to add the center redesign from the newer STi concept (NY Auto Show) for additional cooling benefits and give a direct shot of fresh air to the turbo intake and radiator (without passing though the intercooler first.)

I first sclupted the piece ontop of the OEM bumpers adding the contours. I then wet the clay, covered in foil/packaging tape and began laying 2 layers of fiberglass matte. Afterwards I popped the piece off the clay, reinfoced the backside with fiberglass cloth and used some bodyfiller for refine the shape.

I've got a lot of work to do to get this smooth and the shape just right. Next after smoothing the shape I'll have to cut out my old BRZ's mustache and fiberglass my smoothed (and hopefully primed) one onto the bumper.

I will then have to begin laying out the shape for the grille surround (since the design goes all the way around the perimeter of the grille's opening.) The final part will then me used as a negative mold for the final product... and I've aleady been needing an excuse to play with carbon infusion! Anyways here is where I'm at after spending 2 lunch breaks on her. I wanted to play with it this weekend but I've got a mega sunburn (from welding) on my face.

Worst case senario is I can make the part to fit the stock bumper in case the bodykit ends up a lost cause.

Some more progress pictures.

Sculpted insert using clay > Layered fiberglass matte over it > Removed clay = basic part structure.

And as she sits. I fully expect to have everything roughed in this weekend. Soon as I get my MoverOver Racing quick release latches I'll probably go full throttle and start putting hours into it. But, for now just 20-30 minute sessions after work.

Also added in some more pictures to the above logs.

An most importantly... tuning is complete. a 5 MONTH street tune by Jamesm/HRI Tuning. Looks like I'm just shy of my 350whp goal though I'm closer than I thought possible. Best run is 335whp and 267tq on pump gas. And that was done with stock overpipe and catted frontpipe. (pulled perrin's 3.0 OP as it was banging on the chassis annoyingly. even with the cradle shimmed down with washers.)

It's a solid assembly now and 80% of the ground work is done. Only thing left to fiberglass is a few bubbles and thin spots. Next up is just making it look good/smooth.

Hopefully I get some damn bumper mounts in so I can really test fit and get to work! Last picture is just holding it infront of the OEM grill for sizing.

Not much progress on the grille. Been wet and raining which makes me not want to sand bondo for hours on end.

Anyways. Contacted Mishimoto via the technical support forum on their website and was greeted by service rep Zach Tempone whom was very cool an aiding my with my inquiry. My inquiry as basicly I wanted to see if I could get them to sell me the sandwhich adaptor plate and bolt used on their new 2015 WRX/STI oil cooler setup which is made to fit using the OEM Forester/WRX liquid oil cooler! Long story short, Zach hooked me up for an unbeleivable price! $15.00 for parts and $15 for shipping and 1 week later~

(here is an example of it on the 2015 WRX along with part # for anyone else interested.) I'm still shocked I got the sandwhich plate and center bolt for $15 from their 2015 kit that costs $600!

Setrab 19row oil cooler core purchased, just trying to locate some banjo bolt/an (90*elbow) fittings to use of the sandwhich plate. :/

Got my move over racing latches earlier last week. About 1/2 through installing them. Got distracted when I decided for some reason to black out my headlights.

Also noticed a couple rub marks on the IC piping I'll have to now re-re-re-adjust

1/2 way through install a suprise box from Japan Parts.com showed up. STi garnishes!

Got it done. Still have endless adjusting to do to the quick latches... also broke another set of tabs on the side markers. :/

Also fairly certain the bodykit is out in regards to using the minilatches. The minilatches mount to the fender which I'm switching to Todoroki's... I think they will put way to much stress on the fiberglass and crack. Given they and 3 bolts under the hood are all theat will support the carbon creations bodykit.
