Car Lift In Garage Inquiry

Hey guys, just wondering, anybody here have a car lift in the garage? I have a single car garage, however it's very tall, based on my eye sight, seems like i could fit 2 cars no problem.

Just wondering, what places could i go to to find out a cost? And if anyone has done so and how it is for them and the cost.

maybe this will help, it's designed for their specific models but it'll give you a rough idea of what the minimum ceiling heights needs to be.

Princess Auto has quite a few car lift options. 2 and 4 post permanent lifts. I don't have one but lifts have cement depth requirements. I don't know if typical GTA homes have deep enough cement floors to support these.

If you are looking at an electric hoist OR a tandem car storage setup, aside from a tall ceiling you also will need to replace your overhead door with a roll up door (expensive). If you don't have an electric garage opener you might get a tandem storage device to fit. Depends on the distance between the overhead door tracks vs lift width. Still, no electric opener though. I might do it in the future too. BTW your floor is likely no more than 4" thick.

You should be able to get a 'high lift kit' to modify your standard garage door. For an operator which that doesn't cut into your headroom checkout liftmaster's 8500 model wallmounted / residential jackshaft operator.

Garage
A friend's dad picked up a 4 post hoist for about $3000 brand new, delivered and setup. He did have to get a wallmounted garage door opener, but no other changes required to the garage.

The model he got can just sit on the concrete, be bolted down, or rest on casters to allow you to roll it around (can't imagine doing that).

I have been also looking at getting a lift. I'm in the same situation with only a single garage. I originally was thinking of getting a Danmar Maxjax but I'm positive my concrete floor isn't thick enough for proper installation. So what I'm considering is a portable style mid-rise scissor lift with middle access.

Costco also sells the MaxJax which is a 2 post especially made for home garage.

I just picked one up recently. It gets great reviews and seems to be the pick of choice on garage journal forums.

The Maxjax is a low lift hoist but not tall enough for stacking 2 cars BTW.

Yup. I want to use it more for tires/wheels/suspension since I have room and don't need to stack. So different uses.

Just throwing out other options.
