Just got my Black Circuit Werks set. I am very impressed with these pulleys so far. Will be installing them ASAP.

Do you guys have to oil them like the Perrin one that they recommend? also anybody know the torque specs for the alternator pulley nuts and wp pulley bolts?

now the communication and support though from seller is awesome. the guy is always responsive although I have bugged him a lot with bunch of questions. he even offered money back if I'm not happy with the pulleys.

hopefully will install these this saturday

Edit: re-read my post and noticed that i am being VERY picky considering how soft aluminum is.
They have the same pattern design (or very similar) to the OEM pulleys, I wonder which gives better hp tq and throttle response compared to the perrin crank pulley

i wouldn't count on better HP/TQ numbers. it's just marginally better throttle response, which is what I was looking for. perrin vs full set - you won't notice much difference at all.

I do have a warranty so i think the Circuit werks would go unnoticed by the toyota techs during routine maintenance inspections, but which is more reliable?
I know the Perrin one isnt balanced, and someone said that it needs to be oiled as well. Which would be the best to get? Also which would last longer, considering belts and pulleys need to be replaced from every 65-105k miles, which pulley would have a less damaging effect on the belt and pulley system, the circuit werks, or Perrin?

there are a lot of threads discussing wether lightweight pulleys are safe or not. you should decide for yourself. just use search. I went by the fact that a lot of people running these on wrx with over 100k without issues. These are all balanced but they aren't 'balancing' or 'harmonic' pulleys. the idea is that the subaru egines with opposed cylinders are self balancing. these pulleys don't have bearing and don't need to be oiled or replaced as part of a maintenance. none of these should have any damaging effect on the belt, although it's possible if the pulley wasn't done right (angle or depth of the grooves). circuit werks are definitely chinese pulleys, perrin ones - i don't know where they are manufactured, although reputation of the company is very good.
Personally, i think you're thinking way too much about these. the are simple aluminum pieces which i could probably cut myself if i had a lathe.
also, i suggest you spend money on tune than on pulley. i simply wasn't happy with sluggish throttle response and revs dropping slowly and i knew that pulley would give me a slightly better throttle response. for power/torque and even response you're better off just putting a tune on, much better $ spent.

Just to kind of put this out there too fellas, while youtubing around today looking for boxer motor assembly videos (this is my first boxer so I wanted to learn more about how they are built/how each part functions) I came across this:

[ame="https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-gmtEQ1GpmA"]Subaru STI Short Block Assembly - YouTube[/ame]

Skip to about 11 minutes in and he goes into a little explanation about how all the crankshafts on Subaru motors are "Zero-balance" from the factory, needing no external balancing/dampening. He brings it up later when discussing seating the crank as well. Now I'm not nearly as knowledgeable as the guy in the vid or many on the forum, but given the debate I thought it might be a useful piece of info, and it's nice to hear from an authority on the subject rather than either anonymous forum members or Subaru's canned response to the question.

For reference, I've run the Perrin (which does NOT required any oiling) pulley for about 6k miles, no issues. My biggest issue so far with the car is the bullsh*t Subaru factory tune which runs like garbage, but OFT stage 1 cleared that right up. The only reason I can think of that Subaru would allow such a shoddy tune is just to cater to the lowest common denominator in terms of available fuel grade. If you want the best bang for your buck, it's going to be OFT stage 1 hands down. But to each their own, if you're not comfortable with the potential for eventual engine failure (as is the case with any mod), then just leave it stock and spend the money on track days.

The Perrin Crank Pulley was one of my very first mods. I've since switched to the CW set to get a little bling factor, and 40k miles later, I've run multiple tunes from multiple tuners, E85, Autox, 1/4 mile, hundreds of dyno pulls, and am now boosted. Still no problems.

Hi all. I thought I'd speak up.

I've had the Perrin Crank Pulley on my 2013 AT BRZ since it originally came out.

I bought the Circuit Werks set from Ebay just as people here have mentioned. Great quality, great customer service, fast shipping.

I installed the Alternator and Water Pump Pulley's. I left the Perrin installed.

I have to say, after driving the car, I immediately noticed a difference with the swap out of these (2) pulleys, just as I had the original (1) pulley quite some time ago.

Needless to say, I'm very happy.

I do have the Circuit Werks Crank Pulley available if someone wants it. See: http://www.ft86club.com/forums/showt...72#post1713572

- My 2 cents.

Anyone has a direct link to buy these pulleys , it seems that there are a few vendors selling and the pictures do look alike but some are designed differently although they claim to be circuit werks :/

Do you have the link or contact info for prideexhaust , I've seen these pulley kits on eBay for $70 and others $130 but the design is different :/

I actually contacted prideexhaust asking about their pulleys vs. 86motorings. They responded very quickly with this: "We don't manufacture our own pulleys. These were made by our manufacturer. Possibly 86motoring uses the same manufacturer or they make them somewhere else just the same design. "

I am going to go out on a limb here and assume that 86motoring buys theirs from a manufacturer as well, most likely the same one as prideexhaust. It just seems too coincidental that these pulleys are identical and the same colors. I asked 86motoring about the coincidence and they said they are not affiliated with Cicruit Werks or prideexhaust but they never said where their pulleys came from and they certainly never said they manufactured the pulleys themselves.

Glad I found these as I was just about to pull the trigger on the 86motoring ones. Those were $286 with the word that they would give you half your money back AFTER writing them a review that they approved of.

Looks like prideexhaust may have gone under.
Their website has no contact information and has a bunch of broken links.

I do see a company that is based out of Plano, Texas (just like Pride Exhaust was) called improvemotorsports that is selling the Circuit Werks pulley kits for $79 (same price as the last sale on the bay from Pride Exhaust).

They look like the same pulleys I bought.

I best improvemotorsports is what Pride Exhaust used to be.

Buy the kit from them, use paypal, and if you dont like it get a refund.
