The universe is SO VAST that literally everything that can be imagined has or will occur at some point. That is the nature of infinity. One of the best ways to illustrate the concept is with the "tornado in a junkyard" analogy. What is the chance that a tornado hits a random automotive junkyard and the result is fully assembled 67 Camaro SS from just the random junk laying around. MOST people would argue that is absurd, and could "NEVER happen". Now what if you had 1 million tornados and 1 million junkyards? What are your chances now? Still damn close to zero! NOW WHAT if you had an infinite number of tornados and an infinite number of junkyards? What is the chance that you get even ONE 67 camaro SS? The chance is now 100%. So what is the chance that some ethane & methane molecules combine into a more complex molecule? Not very high if you have a small number of molecules. Now what if you have effectively an infinite supply of ethane & methane and some very high energy particles to bathe the experiment in? Now the chance that more complex molecules get created has jumped to near certainty. Same concept applies to biogenesis. What is the chance that the universe could assume all of the proper conditions such that life will occur? Well if it is life asking the question, then the chance is 100% (a.k.a. The Anthropic Principle). |

There's nothing like a K&N for pure performance cabin filtering.

I know they say "filter," but I'm pretty sure they won't improve the ambient air quality.

That is where if you are reclusive enough and avoid all human contact, MAYBE the rest of humanity will just cease to exist.
I have tried it, it doesnt work. ....still wish it would..... Just think of the car collection that I could have. |

Stugray, you smokin' too much weed bro?
I think its widely believed most hydrocarbon deposits on earth are formed from primordial algaes and similar simple ancient organisms. This explains the concentrated hydrocarbons. We can produce petroleum and related compounds from algae now. When we deplete the worlds accessible oil deposits, plants and algae will be used to produce petroleum like compounds where there is no practical substitute.
If the twins go FI in the future it will be with a smaller displacement motor. Maybe Subaru's 1.6T in the Levorg.

I do not dispute that some of the petroleum on earth is from decomposed plant/animal material (way over 90% of the contribution would be plant), it is just a tiny portion of the total. Again, IF petroleum comes from plants, where did all the hydrocarbons on Titan come from? "Saturn's orange moon Titan has hundreds of times more liquid hydrocarbons than all the known oil and natural gas reserves on Earth, according to new data from NASA's Cassini spacecraft." Must be plant life & Saturnian dinosaurs? Last edited by stugray; 05-30-2015 at 05:22 PM. |
