To make him more cocky he had a girl with him so naturally he had to whip it out and be "cool". At the stoplight he guns it (to the best a '99 V6 stang can do) and flys down the road to the rest of traffic. Roughly 200 yards away.

I casually leave the stoplight and drive like a normal human, i catch up to him and look over. Only to seem him smirking at me. I couldnt hold it anymore i busted out laughing so loud im pretty sure he could here me with his windows up. Didnt help the girl was with him too, he ends up gunning it again and verring in and out of traffic. Poor girl, probably scared for her life.
I've had the older gen sn95 mustangs like that with some teenagers in it chase me down as well although when they realize I'm not playing or reciprocating on a straight road they start tailgating real bad. Its so annoying although I'm only 4-8 years older than them and remember flogging whatever car I owned back then to get close to sports cars lol

Had a Porsche Cayman catch up to me(I'm in the right lane doing 55, the speed limit)

He looks at me, drops a gear and takes off! Not sure if he wanted me to chase or not...but man he just kept going!

Had a guy in a lowered Silverado with Mexican plates on 22s speed up next to me on the freeway so that I couldn't pass him, so I did the only thing I could do and dropped a couple gears and went past him so I wasn't holding up traffic anymore. He must have realized he underestimated my car cause he slowed down and got off on the next exit. Probably didn't make him look very good in front of his girl.

I had another incident that I found much less humorous. I was driving along, and I got into the very right lane to get off on the next exit, next thing I know some moron a piece of crap 80s GM 4 door gets right on my tail and he's so close that I honestly thought he was going to hit me right then and there. He finally get the message after I slowed down to about 40 (not that like the lane was going much faster anyways) and he finally goes around me. I decided to state my displeasure by honking at him and he slows down, rolls his windows down and throws a drink of some sort at me. Thankfully he's an idiot and can't aim and the cup came no where near my car. I yelled "you mad bro" as he cut off 3 lanes of traffic, which I doubt he could hear, but it made me feel good.

A couple days ago, while I was house rental hunting, I had a VW Golf (not sure if it was GTI or R32 with the red trimmings) fly past me, then slow down repeatedly on this stretch of road. Considering how new my 86 is, I wasn't having any of it, let alone don't find stop light to stop light races fun. As I was two lights away before getting on an on-ramp (3/4 circle shaped) to the highway, the guy started tailgating me. Now, I do like to drive spiritedly on that on-ramp, but because the guy in the Golf was starting to irritate me with his tailgating, I decided to get on it a little more than usual. The car took it with stride, not even oversteering at 50mph, and I was practically at highway speeds by the time I exited the on-ramp. I stuck to driving at 5mph over the speed limit's indicated speed (which is typically okay where I'm at) and would glance at my rear view once in a while, expecting the Golf to come barrelling out of the exit and catching up to me immediately. To my surprise, by the time I saw the Golf exit the on-ramp, it was almost a dot in my mirror. I could tell he tried to get on it to catch up, then resigned at the fact that I left him too far behind. By the time he finally caught up, I had already exited the highway and entering a roundabout underpass below the highway.

Friday night, my fellow 86 drivers/club members were out on a casual cruise around town. I happened to be leading, much to my dismay since I don't like to lead in a drive... On this...semi-highway, a Mustang 5.0 starts to pace us, doing what I'd call a "highway rev" (split second gunning the gas pedal to cause the high rev sound without really shooting away) to each 86 it slowly passed. Then he must have realised we were going to enter the off-ramp to this bigger roundabout underneath the semi-highway because he practically suddenly braked enough for each of us to pass by him so that he could get right behind all of us. On the roundabouts, we all were just having our fun, getting on it around 45-50mph and taking the route of what looked like riding the outer perimeter of a figure 8. From the last 86 driver's account, the Mustang tried to keep up, but apparently it was heavier and had body roll that it looked like the driver was attempting to drive a boat. The driver was still struggling at the final half of the roundabout by the time the last 86 exited. Apparently the driver was not pleased because after he finally exited the roundabout, he just proceeded to put his foot to the metal and fly past us while we continued on in a leisurely pace within the speed limit.

Had some douche in an old yellow S4 pace me on the highway and then take off. My gf was laughing at the poor kid trying to be cool, especially when he was stopped by traffic 1/8 mile ahead.

My car being loud, gets a lot of wrong attention. Some dude in a golf gti tried to race me as soon as I started to cruise once the light turned green. I was like, why not, and decided to punch it. I actually didn't expect to get a car length on him, especially in the rain, with these stock nearly half tires

Never race, but love to get rid of tailgaiters by just taking curves at my 'normal+' speed and see them drop back massively most of the time. Some stay back, others try to catch up again, now usually keeping some distance though.

Gotta love twisty roads = no tailgaters. Don't like straight roads....

I have the opposite problem. Seems every time I get on a good twisty piece of road I catch up with everyone in front of me and I become the tailgater, watching them ride their brakes while I only want to hit the accelerator.
