This oil change I'll bring it up, notice the wheels sqeak when the downshift happens I hope nothing is locking up and its just the sudden deceleration
I never had this type of issue... only issue was when it downshifts, it doesn't make an aggressive downshift noise.

I've had this happen a couple times as well. I haven't noticed any pattern to it. I'm guessing it's a bug in the ECU.

I've noticed it happens for me only if I drive "normally" from the get go

I emailed my dealer yesterday and explained what was happening, but he said it definitely shouldn't be doing it. He told me to bring it in at some point this week. Then I followed that up with your video and told him my car does the same thing. Have yet to hear back about that, but at least I'm not being brushed off, so that makes me happy.

Get in touch with your dealership and see what they say!

I've only had a rev dip in 3rd or 4th and only after dropping down 2 gears quickly in manual mode. And only sometimes. It's as if the software can't decide what it wants to do sometimes...

In manual mode, are you WOT between shifts? That could create a large sudden change in acceleration, or "jerk" if the automatic transmission is just not fast enough, caused by the wheels operating at a speed different to what the car is actually moving at.

Driving a manual, you quickly learn how to not create a large "jerk" between shifts by releasing most or all of the throttle when shifting up and applying enough throttle for rev-matching for downshifts.

I have never driven an automatic BRZ.

Nope I've driven manual before its this is just a really slow downshift and lack of any sort of rev match and its regardless of wot or not, you've come to the thread a little late lol

I'll try and get in touch but the problem is my schedules getting busy with work and school and not having a car for even a day would be a problem. Please do us a favor and post here what your dealer finds
Also the issue is becoming increasingly more common

i second this. i have not had the same problem as described above but i know that if i change my throttle input during any part of the shift the engine and transmission get a little confused

Appointment set for Friday they've scheduled a technician to drive the car for 45 minutes and try to reproduce the issue, either that or do doughnuts in my car.....
