I decided to give this a shot today with partial success. My stock firmware was already 03/18/15. I flashed via USB.

Key points:
-This firmware is build 03/18/15 (obviously)
-Car Home is disabled (boots straight to your app pages) I actually like Car Home but I know I'm in the minority
-Root works, superuser app is installed

Issues:
-Stock Bluetooth version was 01/26/2015. After flashing the new firmware, bluetooth version is UNKNOWN and bluetooth no longer works. The bluetooth option is there but it does not detect my phone and vice versa.

-Another separate issue which is prob just me being a noob is that I'm trying to install viper EQ but I keep getting an error when i try to do anything in the system folder. Such as delete the stock EQ app or move Viper EQ to the system/app folder. It says the system folder is read only.

If anyone has any ideas on how to fix bluetooth or gain access to system folder please let me know. If I can't get the bluetooth working I'll have to go back to stock firmware.

Pandora is problematic. Different ROMs and different APKs but can never seem to get it to run more than ten minutes without force closing.

Half the time I just pipe it from my phone.

But I haven't tested it!
Got a checksum? I'm downloading but have poor connection. Want to make sure download is intact.

Well that's the end of that...

I wouldn't recommend this HU to anyone. I received my first about a year ago. On arrival, most of the hard buttons did not work. Had to ship it back to China (which Ca-Fi did pay for). It looks like they sent me a new one.

Worked ok for a while but had its limitations (no accelerometer, terrible radio reception, so-so sound at best, crashing apps, had to sideload most good apps, limited bluetooth profile, need to reboot every so often).

A month the backup camera died. I assumed a wire came loose. No - Its the HU.
Two weeks ago - crackling sound for a few days, then no sound. Thought it might be the amp - nope its the HU.

Definitely not worth the aggravation. I put in a relatively cheap JVC HU ($140, no GPS etc.) and the difference in sound quality was night and day. I will absolutely miss Waze on the HU but that is the only thing I will miss.

Sorry to hear you had trouble with it, but you're definitely in the minority on that front.

I'd contact Innotrends/Ca-Fi; they'll probably be willing to sell you a replacement harness.

Very glad someone posted the link to the latest rooted firmware. I have been slaving away for maybe a week rooting the January 2015 firmware... Almost there, just can't seem to get the mount points figured out

Needless to say, the download is very helpful.

Hello all! Can someone direct me to which alternate OBD2 to purchase to run Torque on my Dashlinq4. I would like to purchase the one sold by CAFI, but $39 just in shipping is a little too much for me.

Thanks for any help.

I've tried asking Ca-Fi about Android Auto support on their forums for those interested. They basically told me that Android running your car is the future and they think that sounds way better than Android Auto.

CarPlay/Android Auto is the future. Ca-Fi refusing to add in at least Android Auto (which should be a no brainer) forces me to recommend against this unit as well. No one wants another computer to have to upgrade every few years. Having an Android head unit is neat, but it should also be able to function as a dumb display for telematics systems. That way when you upgrade the phone or phone software, you've upgraded your car infotainment as well.

Speak for yourself. I much prefer having it self-contained rather than dependent on a phone.

Right. There will be other head units available with that locked down car play. The Ca-FI is tailored for a different audience, like me.

2 questions on this head unit?

Does it support canned sms responses like the 'Hey I am driving' messages that the stock head unit has?

Does it support the vehicle speed sensor to do the dynamic volume like the stock unit?

I am interested in a USB one. Anyone got a link to a cheap USB OBD2? The cheap Chinese one I have doesn't connect but i think that's due to the crappy pins.
