"pure pricing" is Scion's term for no haggling. Dealer's advertised price is what you pay. Has nothing to do with MSRP. Toyota won't do anything.

Ugh these kinda posts make me depressed.
I mean, I know markups happen, especially with hype like this, but I thought I'd bury my head in the sand and hope that this wouldn't happen. I don't need this car. And I don't want the car because its exclusive. I just want it because it looks fun. Markups aren't fun. So when I see posts like this I take a look at the Mustang GT which per truecar, I could possibly get for the same price for the MSRP of the FRS, which to some is about as fun of a car, and definately faster. Not to mention the tens of other alternatives; new and used. So money grubbing dealers, marking up cars as a slap in the face to buyers and Scion; who won't see a dime from the adjustment, remember: the internet with its ever reaching hands through twitter and Facebook and forums like these have your number. You might find a moron or two with too much money or too little sense to play your game, but is that the business you really want to be in? I hope when I contact my dealers in a month or two to purchase a FRS that it will be for at most MSRP; a fair price for all involved. To have our part to strengthen not only the Scion brand but also show other car companies that a car like the FRS can exist and to show how selling cars can be done. If the no-haggle no-hassle becomes too much of a hassle, as much as I love the idea of the car, there are plenty of other faster and arguably more fun, fish in the sea. ---- Sorry for all the histrionics, I've been watching to much Game of Thrones lately.

I'm dead set on getting one of these cars. However, if this is going to be the norm for a while i'll get a mustang GT deluxe. I already priced a custom build and it was $38965 OTD. As much fun as this car may be and all the looks that it will get I'll pass. The way I look at it is I want to buy the FR-S but I don't need it. I have two perfectly good ones now.

I just got back from Destin and I didn't get a chance to see any FR-S' out on a dealer lot.
I'm kinda glad I didn't because I probably would have bought one for that price. JUST KIDDING! LOL. |

If the dealers can get away with this, might as well they'd have badged it Toyota in the US.

I'm shocked to see these American dealers doing this to their customers. I just signed the paperwork for my FR-S at a Canadian dealership in Toronto yesterday. I got the car for MSRP and I get a $1000 rebate for being a university graduate. Not to mention my 2.7% finance rate. My salesperson has been very honest and has gone out of his way to hook me up with some other stuff as well to help me sell my current car.

Aren't Scions supposed to outnumber BRZ's something like 3 to 1? I haven't heard of anyone paying more than $1k over MSRP for a BRZ yet... I have heard of markups, but at least we know no one's paying them.
Keep your heads up, people! If it was really meant-to-be, you'll be patient and get the car at (or maybe even below) MSRP eventually! And it will be SO worth it!

This whole Scion dealer markup thing is really depressing. Pure pricing turned out to be a joke after all the questions about it for the past 6 months. I've gone to the website of every dealer described in these threads and they all list the FR-S on their site for MSRP. If they list it for MSRP and then sell it for something above that, Pure Pricing means nothing.
Scion clearly doesn't care as this isn't an isolated incident. Scion, you lose. Either uphold pure pricing or get rid of it. Having a rule you don't follow is just wrong. Funny how everyone believed pure pricing was real until now. Sure there were some skeptics, but the overwhelming majority believed in it. Scion has proven us wrong, way to go. |

I printed the price with vin# off the website and brought it with me. Only took threatening to walk out twice to get the deal done at MSRP. They wanted to charge a $2k mark up. A word of advice, never hand your keys over for your trade (if in fact you are trading something in) until you sign all the paper work and have the keys to the new car. I think that helped in my situation as they knew I could just get up and leave at any time in the process.

Just a heads up to people in the area that are still trying to find an FR-S. I ended up contacting all the Scion Dealership around the area of L.A. and found that Longo Scion will not be markup the price of the FR-S. Best of luck to everyone. |
