What I really enjoyed was that it got a power bump of over 10% from its first 2 model years in its 3rd year ('91). It's 4th year, they added the convertible. Add to that the S13 was also ~2700 lbs and everyone said it was underpowered (yet I personally loved the way it felt), and you start to realize some of the similarities of these cars. |

I see the Datsun 200sx isn't getting any love in here. Nissan's S platform dates back a lot further than the S13. I think 5 generations in all for the U.S. market and 6 counting the S15.

Since this was done between Subaru and Toyota I imagine it will have a life much like the S2000.
If the car sells really well then another deal may be in order between the two companies (yes I know Toyota owns a good bit of Hino motors/Subaru). Otherwise, I think we're looking a car specifically designed to test the waters for the market and leave a legacy to improve brand image. Updated BRZ isn't out of the question but Toyota may end up developing something else with their own chasis and powertrain in that market. $0.02 |

350Z & 370Z is technically in Fairlady genre, so they're several generation (6th gen).

i am pretty sure there will be a 2nd gen model. i figure all car makers are looking to go into smaller engined cars. by then, im betting that bmw will have a sub 1 series in the USA, chevy will have that small rwd coupe. betting there will be alot more 1.0-1.5 liter engines being produced also (gas and diesel). heck, next gen FRS could come stock with a 1.5 liter turbo that makes 200hp and 200lb/ft.
