Deposit made,Should I change Asphalt to Halo White ?
So now after years since the rumour of GT86 I'm finally be able to purchase that car.. With a financial plan.. Total to pay is more than 285,000 CNY = 45,931 USD
Oh, And I also paid around 13,000 USD for a Shanghai vehicle licence plate which will allow the vehicle to circulate on the lifted bridge in the city during the busy hours. And 3300 USD for the bidding buddy ( No, the regular people can not bid by themselves and the bidding system is very penetrated by the hacker plug-in software). So, after all this outrageous extort money, I put the deposit of around 800 USD to the dealer for a Toyota GT 86 201(6?) in Asphalt colour and Black+Red interior . I'm finally waiting a FR drive car with MANUAL !! transmission which is rare rare to get in China, (Most family don't have vehicles, if they do have one, they would prefer to have a conform and spacious Sedan with of course a Automatic transmission, so an expensive manual car is really considered as egoist and independent .. or rich child , but unfortunately I'm not) However I looked on there official website , it seems that the Halo white paint is 375 USD more for customisation ? Here are some points I'm thinking about the reason about each choice, I would love to hear about your opinion, here should be the biggest community of this 86/FRS/BRZ. Halo: 1. The Halo white is a Toyota symbolic. 2. The dealer doesn't charging extra for this Halo white. 3. Most part of China is hot in summer. More than 80 F. 4. I was always want a white car white I was adolescent. But now I'm 30. Asphalt: 1.I'm living in a pretty dirty and old catastrophic compound in Shanghai, perhaps the Asphalt is less showy to attract the scratch from the scooters or children.. 2.My wife would drive the 86 daily, their parking lot are filled with Mercs, BMW, Audi, even several Porsche, considering the GT86 is a relatively cheaper car, is it better to keep the Asphalt as it is less shiny.. 3. I guess there are less than 10 asphalt GT86 in the Shanghai city. But almost 90% of the GT86 are white and 90% of BRZ are Rally blue. 4. The Subaru BRZ is not available in Asphalt in China. That makes the GT86 Asphalt unique. And that is why I chose Toyota instead of Subaru, they are actually the same price here. 5. The asphalt is my wife's choice from the very beginning. What would you do ? UPDATE: So I keep the finger crossed and waiting an Asphalt after all these friendly advices in this forum. Thank you guys. Last edited by xtral; 06-05-2015 at 01:18 PM. |

I wanted white in the beginning, than realized asphalt was the color of choice I wanted to go. My main reason was, it was dark grey in the day time, black at night. It was like a 2 in 1 color for me. Thru my daily commutes to work (Los Angeles,CA) I've seen RED,WHITE,WRB the most.

I was gonna go Asphalt but then I saw the two colours side by side and Halo white won me over.
At the end of the day go with your gut. |

Wut? both Halo & Asphalt is pretty much the norm for color choices on the 86. You should have gone with RED or Blue. But since it's her car, let her keep her color choice. Another thing is that i'm pretty sure you don't really see that many BRZ in china... |

Asphalt is actually a more rare color. Even in California, it took longer to find. Asphalt has a nice metallic flake to it in the sun, but is understated enough to keep under the radar.

I don't know about asphalt being "rare". It's honestly my least favorite color option and its the most widely available at all of the dealerships in Orlando (when I was shopping around at least). Someone up there said asphalt is 2 in 1...well white is technically a mixture of all colors. I'd go Halo.

Why not get a compromise of both and get silver?
