If you are running a proper tune with a header, and the engine fails, flash back to stock and swap the stock header back on.

Oh, and don't use the dealership free oil changes etc unless you like free sandpaper carwashes/whatever else they seem to always "fix".

Well, I sort of take that back. If you know what you're doing, do your own maintenance. If you don't know what you're doing(its okay!) then use the dealership services. But tell them "No carwash" about a 1000 times and they MIGHT listen to you and not wash the car.

Understandable. The UEL sound is pretty awesome and that's the reason I ended up with my JDL UEL. You have to look at it from several angles though.

1. Change in flow, a tune will be required to get around the CEL and get the most out of the header. Unfortunately, if your goal is just sound, headers aren't normally just bolt and go.

2. If it's a street car, I need to be able to pass inspection and have a game plan for that

Headers across multiple platforms cause CEL's for many reasons regarding the change in exhaust flow. It's definitely something you research.

That's like getting a catted aftermarket header and them marketing as "it won't throw a CEL so it's perfect on the stock tune" which is BS. It still can throw the code because there is a change in flow. Won't happen to everyone, but all it takes is one time for the O2 sensor to not be happy and throw the P0420.

It seems like OP is new to the modding car world and having services done by dealer.
Back to OP, i am assuming you'll pay peformance shop to change your header not DIYing. (if you DIYing then, great!)
so, it will cost change header back to stock before going to dealer for warranty.
They won't void warranty because you changed certain parts but it will be hassle and will be pointed out when whatever problem found. for exmple, they'll say your aftermarket header caused engine to blow.

like others said and suggested, don't mod if you dont want to deal with warranty issue with dealer.

I went to a Toyota dealer for the HPFP years ago with a headerback exhaust, intake, and tuned. Suspension, wheels, all of it and my warranty was intact. If the problem wasn't caused by the aftermarket parts, you're fine. Granted the engineers weren't happy at my tune and tried to blame the chirp on the hotter injectors, I told him they are full of it and lets go drive a bone stock one at the dealer.

+1 for not bothering with a header until you have an appropriate tune. Probably 70% of the overall header gains are from combining it with a tune that remaps VVT tables accordingly.

Technically you can get any headers you want because none of them "fit" to a catback.

Between your catback and headers there is a front and overpipe.
