You probably don't want to hear this but the only modification you should be interested in at the moment is developing your driving skill sets. Too many young people have the F&F mentality and become focused on more power. If you are serious about tracking your car, you will quickly understand how that experience translates into safely driving a slow car fast. Most novices are amazed at the difference between themselves and the advanced drivers and at that point you begin the journey!

Hey Ryan. You got my support here. Not all kids drive like @ss on the street, as long as you are responsible to yourself and other people, get it boosted all you want. But boasting the car will need some engine work to make it stronger to handle on the track for endurance racing. This is your DD so you don't want it to blow up on you so soon. On the other hand, unless you meant straight line drag racing, which... what this car is not meant to do, otherwise racing is about how late you can break the car into the corner. So if you get it boosted you might want to get some good break at the same time, and the good ones cost a few k $$$$. I don't know how much your parents can help you, but be ready to spend somewhere around at least 10-$15k for your track-able boosted FI daily driver. If you tell me " I'm not that serious to track it bro, I don't need to spend that much money on it" then you are not going to drive your boosted car serious enough to even think about boosting it. Now, assume you and your parents are ok with the cost of boosting it, innovate supercharger is better on the street, while Jackson racing supercharger is better on track. Think where you wanna focus on more. And if you think the cost of boosting and everything is too much for you to handle, I suggest you to buy a used (or new) go kart and join a league. They have track days for hi power go karts and it is not your common $50 bucks indoor go kart event, most of F1 drivers started from Go kart leagues. |

One of my grandfathers willed me his 1948 Chevrolet (coupe). I was going to "soup it up", on a limited farm boy budget. So, I got an intake manifold and two more single barreled carburetors from a junk yard. Cut into the manifold and welded on two flanges, mounted the two additional carburetors and hooked them up with straight linkage. While I was tuning my new racing engine (by advancing the timing), under a shade tree in the barnyard, my other grandfather stopped by. I showed him what I had done and ask him if he thought my mods would make my car go faster. He asked, "did you port the head, put in bigger valves, mill the head, open up the exhaust, put in a higher lift cam" ?? I said .. no, to all of those. Well then, he said just adding carburetors, will do nothing but cause your machine to use more gas .. ![]() humfrz |
