Is it weird that I'm not seeing that many used BRZs for sale on Craigslist? (or FRS for that matter...but I want the Subie) I feel like I see these cars everywhere, there's gotta be people trying to sell them..

I just really want to drive a sports car again Anything without bar stool seating height and 10 degrees pitch and roll would make me so so happy.

Yea so I didn't get into grad school (I have a strong feeling a professor/letter writer stabbed me in the back) and I decided to just try to find a job in the Bay so that probably would've been a really good idea, but keeping the car sitting there waiting for funds just felt wrong.

It's all good, I did some more reading on the FA20 and I've convinced myself that the engine outweighs the shortcomings of the overall package. The AVCS system is super clever engineering! The system's speed varies linearly with rpm so in theory its response time should be better than most VVT systems that depend on oil pressure, cuz oil pressure drops off quite non-linearly at low rpm.

I also somehow just a few days ago figured out what a Torsen LSD is and how much more awesome it is than the other LSD types. I wouldn't mind having that in my car

Either way the 86 will most likely be a temporary car. I'm putting my hopes on the rumored new baby Porsche 718, or a future MR2 if Toyota pulls their heads out of their asses. Literally all they have to do is take their new 6AR-FSE Camry lump and copy the FA20 heads for an easy 200hp. In fact I bet it would make more than 200hp because the Camry motors are actually better in every other way (3 stage oil pump, variable length intake runners, 12.7 CR, lower friction).
