That is awesome. Glad you gave your business to the dealer who did not play games.

I actually gave them the VIN# and they didn't have a FR-S in their dropdown box. It kept trying to default to the IQ from what the rep told me

Dude, this car is already on the verge of being overpriced, they are gonna sink the car if they keep these shenanigans up.

I really thought Scion was pretty much underwater, and they needed to sell cars. Its interesting to me that they can take a laid-back attitude and try to eek out every penny. If cars sit on lots, they arent making money.

Dealerships reeeeaaaallllly need to look at the big picture here. Scion is in trouble and this car is meant as a giant RWD life preserver. Use it as such, latch onto it and sell these cars to the masses at MSRP. Dealerships still make a good penny even at MSRP. They stand to make EVEN MORE if you finance through Toyota, too.

You should go back over to Bohn Bros Scion and show them the sale they lost. Congrats on your new car!

First, congratulations!

Second, I'm surprised you had an issue with the car because of insurance. I don't have Geico (USAA here) but most insurance companies automatically cover a new car under your existing policy for 30 days. You have to provide proof of auto insurance, but it doesn't have to be for the specific car you are buying.

Demand is still higher than supply so some with money like jay Leno will pay the mark up.

Agreed. If they are up front about it you have no right to complain. No one is twisting your arm or being deceptive.

Not trying to call OP out, but personally I would have a bigger problem with someone beating a car they have no intention of buying than a dealer saying they're charging markup from the get-go.

Maybe I'm a weirdo but on my test drive I was harder on the car I knew I was going to end up buying than the one I test drove for reference the week earlier. That's gonna be someone else's new car soon.
