Why would anyone out to buy a sports car care about the interior? Or the cost of the car? Why are those things even being brought up? What does it have to do with what I'm talking about??? Ok, I can't take anymore

Problem is I have no fucking idea how to pass the new emissions test in Ontario. I passed all the old sniffer tests with flying colors (since the engine is newer and much lower mileage). But the new test is all done by computer through the OBD system and the shitty MTO computers can't read JDM ECUs. Under Province of Ontario law engine swaps must be with a newer engine - which my engine is. OBD2 must be replaced with another OBD2 system - which I also have So I did a fully legal engine swap under Ontario law but the Ministry says it's my problem their computers can't read the ECU. Fucking Ontario government. You know why our laws are so fucked up? Our previous leader drove a fucking Toyota Prius. Driving a Prius should automatically disqualify you from running for political office. That should be in the constitution somewhere. The Prelude was designed to be the sporty option that Honda was offering the "masses". Until 1990 when the NSX came about, there really wasn't anything else that Honda was really pushing that could be considered a Japanese sports car. The Prelude started to bridge that void until the S2000 wiped it off the slate. The only thing the 90's Ludes have in common with corolla's is the front wheel drive, transverse engine layout. I don't see any equivalent year corollas with the suspension design of the preludes. Corolla engines, year for year, were not designed to run at the power/rpm range that the H22 in the prelude was. A well maintained H22 in a 4th gen, possibly 5th gen lude would probably hold up pretty well against an FRS/BRZ. Sure, handling may be on the Twins side, but there is a give and take. If you're calling the FRS/BRZ a sports car, the only definitive trait that I can think of that is pinpointing your argument is the rear wheel drive layout. Other than that, size for size, weight for weight, power for power, the FRS/BRZ is very similar to the twins. That's the bottom line. Besides drive train differences they are very similar (2 doors, no rear leg room, trunks, front engine, 2.0 L +/- engines). That's what the thread was started for, and all bias opinions aside, they are similar in conceptual design, and can be made to perform in very similar ways, albeit, using different methods. I wouldn't consider either to be sports cars. They are both sports compacts if anything, or enthusiast cars. To me sports cars have always been cars that offer race-car like power and performance in a package that is legal to drive on the streets.

Just to point out. there were more than enough japanese sports cars in the 90s. Brz/FR-s is infact exactly like a twin. And I agree with Performance in a package that is legal on the street, the race-car like power I don't agree with.

Should have read the prelude is similar to the twins. At work, not really proof reading. I do agree that their were many Japanese sports cars. I was just saying I wouldn't consider the lude a sports car, but it was Honda's sporty option for their customers who couldn't afford the NSX. It's low popularity and the preference for tuning the lighter civics and integras eventually lead to the end of the prelude.

Stupid that they even bother with engine swap laws to be honest. The percentage of the population that would even do that is stupid low compared to general public consumer . . . at least you can buy JDM cars for half the price they go for in the US. ![]() http://www.tyeeimports.com/jdm-cars-...20/%202%20Door |

It's difficult to find a company that still services Honda P75 OBD2 ECU's, but you could search around and try to find someone that could chip a P75 ECU for you. Then you could flash any map you want to run and still retain OBD2 functionality for your emissions purposes. Most Honda owners opt for an OBD1 ECU with a stepdown harness, but there are a few with chipped OBD2 computers or people who modded their harness to use chipped versions of the newer K-series ECU's.

I've never got into a Corvette and didn't think, "well damn this is some cheap shit." even my friend's 12' Z06 I couldn't help but think that they gave up spending money on the car when they got to the interior.
I used to have a VR4 3000GT and it seemed like everyone that dumped their VR4 did it for a C5 Vette. it's like it's the I give up just give me a V8 that goes RAWR car. I donno. |
