Thats true for new BMWs

For old BMWs its more because driving slow is boring. First hand experience. The car begs you to push it, so you start thinking like this:

"2K RPM is for commuters.... I wanna hear that straight six sing like a swarm of angry bees all the way to redline. And then slam into next gear."

And then you notice that you're cutting people off and going twice as fast as anybody else on the road

What a narcissistic society, that everyone thinks they own the road. I can't help but shake my head and just wonder where it will devolve from here.

One time I had a guy cut me off, of course I brushed it off and kept on my way, I don't really care to let idiots get the best of me.

My point, I personally would have never actually used the firearm unless I REALLY felt like my life was in danger, but other people don't think. Be careful out there.

I made the mistake of reacting the way I did for reasons like the one you stated.

I'm not placing blame on the truck necessarily but they are not completely innocent.

Yes the Camaro was a douche driver and caused this entire incident.

But the truck driver saw the Camaro driver driving recklessly and then intentionally kept blocking the Camaro.

When you see someone driving erratically the smart and correct thing to do is GET OUT OF THEIR WAY and let them go by.

Being a ahole and blocking someone who is speeding, swerving, and flashing lights is being part of the problem.

The recurring theme many people have been pointing out in this thread is to swallow a little pride, be smart, and let road ragers go on down the road.

This truck driver did not and look what happened to him.

So you are blaming what turns out to be a victim. I have a feeling the cops reviewing this will not charge the truck driver for maintaining his right-of-way.

How is that ANY different from slowing down when someone tailgates you? Something that MANY of us do....
Using your logic, we should speed up and move over immediately when someone tailgates.
That sounds a lot like enabling or accommodating bad behavior.
Sorry, but I do the opposite.

I am with you on this one! Truck should have just moved over and let the guy go away. He didn't and his littlie act of vigilante driving got him involved in a crash that would not have occurred (at that point) if he had simply got rid of the guy.
The minute that Camaro started fighting with me for the lane I would have backed off and let him be in front of me where I can at least see what shit he pulls next. More than happy to give up my right of way to get those asshats in a position where they are no longer a threat to me (not my issue if they are a threat to themselves or somebody else way up the road).

No-one has mentioned that the guy with the dashcam was pretty much oblivious to what was going on right in front of him.
In fact for a short period of time even HE was tailgating right behind an accident waiting to happen (Literally!)

If he had complete situational awareness he should have backed way off when he saw that a duel was unfolding.

Depending on the situation, he may have not known what was happening until the Camaro cut into the shoulder. Once things started going down, he did back off, though.

EDIT: Just watched the whole video, Maybe he wanted to get it on cam because he "just got the dash cam a couple days ago." Probably not the best decision, but he kept a reasonable distance.

In this case the Camaro driver blew positive for a DUI, but as a general matter, in many states it is illegal to drive below the normal speed of traffic in the left lane.

In NY (where this video was taken), the law is:

Quote:
Any vehicle which is going slower than the normal speed of traffic must be driven in the right-hand lane or at the right hand side of the road, unless it is passing traffic moving in the same direction or preparing for a left turn.
So the truck driver, by slowing down and trying to block the Camaro in, was actually breaking the law as well. Obviously it's not as bad as the Camaro driver tailgating and trying to pass using the shoulder, but the truck driver wasn't completely innocent in this.
