I consistently get 30-31 mpg on the highway, and I push it. I had a trip where I was stuck at 60 the entire way, and I got 34 mpg.

The HIDs on the BRZ are very, very good.

I didn't think it would make that much of a difference, but I'm a huge fan of the keyless entry and push button start. I can lock my building, put my keys in my pocket and not take them out until I get back home.

As for the price, does Scion have the "Pure Price" bullshit in Canada? If so, you actually may get a better deal on the BRZ despite the higher sticker price. When I bought mine, the actual price paid for a BRZ in my area was $1700 less than the comparable FR-S because the Subaru dealers could deal, while the Scion dealers couldn't. This was despite the fact that the BRZ had a higher MSRP. That depends in large part on your area, but it's worth it to shop around and compare what you're offered.

A quick search (not in depth) shows no new Monograms with a MT available in Canada. Not a surprise really since we didn't get many in the first place.

I'm getting about 24mpg, combined. That's battling through hellacious traffic everyday, though. The entire reason I choose a FRiSbee was partially because I like her angry face and temper with regards to handling, but mostly because I REALLY wanted hot lava.

If you wanted hot lava, take a trip to Hawaii. It'll cost a lot less than ~$25,000

True, but I find its lack of IIHS safety evaluation suspicious.

Actually... traveling from Canada to Hawaii, with the wife, for one week, staying at a good place and actually doing things would probably cost me more than the car!

I like the BRZ Python face more than the FRS face (I think the 5 Axis kit is necessary to make it look the "right" way - like the concept).

I hate push button start, but heated seats make my wife happy. You won't lose either way.

Getting close to 8.0L per 100km with lots of short city drives.... 7.0 or so on pure highway jaunts

They charge Canadians more FYI.

How about servicing? I know its every 8k or so - anyone researched which brand is cheaper to service or mend? Or are they the same...? I keep hearing Toyota/Scion chuck 8 free oil changes into the mix

They are exactly the same car with exactly the same requirements and problems. May be minor variations on what the dealers charge but it will not be significant.
