My light up dash doesn't work either. I tried the switch. Gonna have it looked at when my first service interval comes up. I feel too goofy going to the dealer just to fix the light up dash, which I don't really care about anyway. I mainly just want everything working to preserve resale value. I guess it might be cool for amusing random passengers, but its a little ricey to me. I'm not sure I'll be able to look the dealer in the eyes when I ask about it...

Just did a 3 step detailing. Mcguires Step 1 paint cleaner I still had, Mothers Ultimate Polish, and Optimum Car Wax. Man our paint is sick, I get so many comments from strangers and looks from other twin owners like what does he got?

Doesn't it have it's own fuse? Do the external badges work? I wonder if there are part numbers for the EL panel and light up badges? P.S. funny, when I think disposable cars makers I think Mitsubishi, Hyundai and especially KIA. |

There are three fuses in a harness directly behind the stereo head unit in the dash. Mine doesn't work now either. I just got it back from a body and paint repair where a kid ran into my right door on his bike. All three of my fuses are fine. I think the connection behind the right kick panel or the ground under the carpet must be disconnected. Connection number 4 or the ground shown on the included paperwork. I hope. Like the rest of you, it is a cheesy feature I want to work as designed. The controller under the console behind the shifter was double sided taped to the bottom of the cavity behind the shifter. It has fallen down, don't know if the vibrations finally got the best of it. I'll finish chasing it down tomorrow. I have to get my motorcycle out of the garage so I can open my door wide enough to access the two connections on the right side.

So, I checked every last connector, connection, and fuse. I absolutely have no idea why this stupid dash display isn't functioning. The dealer can figure it out. I have a niece who adores the light up dash. It is for her this will be repaired.

So for anyone who is interested:
My scion 10 dash panel quit working as I stated above. Today the dealer had a go at fixing it, and they believe it is the dash panel itself that is faulty. The controller that is located under the center console right below the little rectangle void where everybody adds their Yospeed plates, is sending signals to the light up display. They had to open a tech case with Toyota to authorize replacement of the dash panel because it is $1100 to replace. That is right, $1100. So if yours isn't working, I recommend having the dealer repair it. I felt stupid for taking it in, but we paid a premium for the 10 series goodies- they need to work. I will say that all of the components look like they were put together at a local type audio/interior/window tint/specialty automotive lighting/wheel kind of outfit. The controller unit is assembled on a board with obviously hand soldered components, in one of those snap close plastic boxes you buy at former radio shack. I hope the vendor sourced to make these stands good on them, or we may enjoy a very limited lifespan on some of our 10 goodies. Once Toyota ok's the order of replacement part, they will quickly replace it. I'll keep you posted for those interested. |

Another note, anyone willing to look behind their radio unit? I pulled mine out and noticed there is a plug ziptied behind the radio, close to the panel, near a ground. It doesn't look like it would plug into any remaining ports on the head unit, any photos of which goes where; or do other people have this not plugged in?

I don't have any paperwork yet. The dealership is pretty frustrated too. They checked the wires going into the panel itself, and had voltage going to it. Toyota, however, is making them replace the control module first. Then if that doesn't work they are making the dealer replace the wiring harness. Then, only after they've done both those things will they let them replace the $1100 panel. This will be a weeks or months long process.
