Passing inspection is not the same as being legal; you can pass smog quite easily with an illegal car in California, but if you get cited for modifications or emissions violations, then that CARB sticker is going to save you a massive headache AND a massive fine. In CA, if you have a history of smog citations, then every smog you get will require you to get a STAR test, instead of just a OBD2 readiness test. There's more than one reason to get the CARB tune, especially in California. Outside of California, if you're planning on keeping your stock cats, chances are the CARB tune is more developed than something your local tuner can throw together on a dyno in just 4 hours. There's more to a tune than just doing a lot of WOT pulls and making adjustments to open loop operation for maximum safe power. |

It may be possible that JR are using features of EcuTek in the CARB map that are not available in the OFT, but that doesn't mean you can't tune with it. The hard part would be finding someone willing to develop a map for you with the tools available. It's been done with the Vortech and SBD kits, there's no reason it can't be done here. I switched to EcuTek because I didn't want to deal with the hassle of making the OFT work, when working with a reputable tuner was easily accessible. |

Your car, not mine. Just as you sold your OFT, the sheer number of them for sale, used, should speak for itself. |

Again, I have an EcuTek tune and am perfectly happy with it. My car won't be blowing up any time soon. |

Most of those are people either selling their cars or going FI. At least you can resell them at almost full value. Can't say the same for Ecutek.

This is very true. I used my tablet for over a year and a half and sold it for 50 dollars less than what I paid for it. It is an incredible value for what it is good at, NA tuning for common mods. It's definitely not as powerful or tuner friendly as Ecutek, however.

I use my OFT as a monitoring system now until I decide to sell it. Its awesome how they keep coming out with new monitoring features. |

The irony here is that I dislike EcuTek, but I support it because there just isn't a better (affordable) tuning solution for the platform.
Sigh. |

It had its limitations for sure but its a new tuning product and its growing. I hope some day it replaces ecutek because fuck licensing fees and its cheaper. You pretty much dominate this Jackson thread and I enjoy reading your RD comments but this struck me in a way were I felt compelled to speak up.

Sorry if this was covered, I didn't see it.
Can you add the mishimoto cold air intake or any bumper intake to the jackson racing supercharger? Would it make a difference? I know the kit is intercooler it just seems like you could get cleaner, cold air, then just having an open air filter in the engine bay. |
