I've always used Blizzak's on all my cars and never had an issue so I'll be continuing that trend with the FR-S.

Nokian Hakkapeliitta. They're not as easy to find as your major brands, but they are specialty snows. I've used them on an E36 325is in Rochester, NY winters with great success, including SCCA Winter Rallys. Those who know about Nokians swear by them. I ran Dunlop snows on my next car and regretted it.

Stock is actually pretty awesome!

I fully love my stock tires and wheels on my Subaru BRZ. I really don't feel any desire to change them at all and yes I absolutely do want to modify my car. I think the stock wheels look great and I like the grip balance of the stock tires because sliding around is nearly why I bought this car.

My next upgrades will be the nameless axelback exhaust and some form of supercharger. I'm planning on keeping the stock tires/wheels just because it seems like I can use the power when I want to and not worry as much about destroying my drivetrain from the increased power.

I'm not trying to disagree with others here who feel differently, I'm just saying there's some appreciation out there for stock!

About the discussion for "why have this thread" here's my 2 cents on that...
1st Penny: This thread was the first thing that came up when I googled "does the BRZ really have Prius tires?". I was glad to see a quick and straightforward answer to that question.
2nd Penny: I think there's a lot of value in creating summarized and stickied info threads that collect wisdom/experience from lots of other posts. Not everybody has hundreds of hours to read forums online for simple questions.

Cheers,

Considering this thread was created before the first car was delivered... yeah.

LOL! To me, "Prius's...Plus Performance package" is an oxymoron!

OK how about this:

The FR-S tires are the same as the Lexus CT200h, a "Prius... Plus Performance package rebadged as a Lexus"

The CT200h does look a lot better than the Prius. I think I'm ok with that comparison.

Well, it's still a "Prius...rebadged as a Lexus"! A hybrid fuel miser, NOT a sport/performance car.

From Edmunds:

"But it's also one of the slowest cars in its class.
Very pokey acceleration"

From C&D:

"Not surprisingly, with a total of 134 hp on hand, the CT200h is painfully slow,...
Heavy on image, light on power."

The Prius a actually a pretty great car...but "Prius" and "performance" is still an oxymoron.

frs tire size is only available to Prius 5, they get upgraded tire size as part of package.
99% of Prius on the road is prius 2 or 3.
People with Prius run up to me and say "we have same tire lol" all the time, but not true
