Injen Air Intake Revision - FYI For All

I ordered an Injen air intake on amazon a few days ago and as I was installing it yesterday, I noticed that the fitment wasn't 100% perfect and the valve for the PVC tube was not bent like I'm seeing all over the internet. Also, everyone elses has heat vents on top of their heat shield. Mine doesnt and its perfectly flat which scares me that I got the wrong product. I was able to get it on and installed, but I dont want to keep it on if its not whats meant to work for my car.

Here is what its supposed to look like according to all the pictures online.

Notice again the vents on top and the angle of the protruding PVC connector.

Now here is what I have installed on my car as of now.

See, without vents and the PVC is protruding straight out at a 90 degree angle, not a 45 like the other ones online.

So what gives? Did I get the wrong thing even though all the directions show everything for brz/frs and the product model on the box matches what Injen shows on its website?

For the record, I bought it from amazon at this link here.

[ame="http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0091UCE54/ref=od_aui_detailpages00?ie=UTF8&psc=1#Ask"]Amazon.com: Injen Technology SP1230P Air Intake System: Automotive[/ame]

I was just looking at another customers images and they showed a setup similar to mine. So I know Im not the only one getting this, but what still concerns me is that aside from amazon, every other website including Injen's itself, and youtube all show a different intake.

It's possible that Injen revised the air box. Its possible an airbox was damaged and someone replaced that portion. Im having a hard time spotting the other difference you are suggesting. In any case it doesnt look like any harm is being done.

Where did you buy it?

As stated above, Amazon.

The vents are easy to see. The angle of the PVC is not. But essentially, the PCV valve on the intake is coming out at 90 degrees versus what looks like 30-40 degrees.

Here is another picture. You can see the angle on the PCV valve better here. Its definitely at a 90 degree angle and not whats on Injen's site.

UPDATE:

Great news!

I contacted Injen and a very helpful individual informed me of the following.

"The tube design is an update, we were having trouble with Manual transmissions bogging, this angle crankcase line took care of that issue.

The cover was an update also, the vents were removed do to a numerous amount of complaints and also copy’s of our intake system.

The updated cover was a design allowing for a more tighter seal."

So for anyone who buys this intake and is confused about the parts being slightly different, know that this was a design enhancement and you have a better intake then what was originally released. Also note that It's still the same part number and Injen has not updated the product's image on the site.

To be honest, send that back to amazon and buy a mishimoto intake system.

You mean the stolen Perrin design or the stolen Grimmspeed design?

You guys sound like a bunch of teen girls arguing over whether Aeropostale, American eagle, or hollister makes a better shirt.

Point blank, this intake in 100 times better than stock in terms of sound and performance. I'm happy with it, and so are many others. I'm not here to make blind claims of one company's intake being better than others and neither should you.

It's a figure of expression. Did you honestly take that as a literal statement? Sigh...

No, because I know it isn't any better than stock in performance.
Sound and looks, yes.
Performance, no.
