maybe different experience from two different persons here.
I feel barely no difference or something wrong with my ears lol

what's your exhaust?
I installed and uninstalled 3 times of front pipe from stock --> catless ---> catted

also tested from stock to nameless exhaust 2-3 times.

I am not trying to argue your statement just i am posting what i experienced. it might be little different from your other exhaust set up

Currently I just have a greddy axelback sp elite.

I think I'm just going to buy motiv uncatted front and over pipe and post the results here when they come in.

Too many mixed results from different users. It seems the only way to know is to just buy, install, and cross fingers.

I do thank everyone for their contributions to this thread however.

Wish me luck!

my nameless front pipe/over pipe catted was louder than my current resonated hatless front pipe/over pipe.

The nameless was also tinny sounding, not to mention restrictive.

Catless headers, catless frontpipe, resonated mid pip, straight pipe axle back. it was too loud. same set up and used the stock front pipe and its much quieter and thats how i drive it now.
I think its the catback that will change most of the sound.. if you have a really restrictive catback it wont do anything. I had a perrin catback on once with it fully catless and it was quiet.

stock front pipe has resonator as well. yeah this car's catless setup is too loud for sure.

yeah when full catless and straight pipe its too loud. If there werent any laws about being loud or smelly, id drive it like that everyday actually haha.
Would a catless resonated front pipe sound any different from a catted front pipe or stock front pipe ya think?

The difference between catted and uncatted will not be as noticeable with a stock header (catted) and a stock cat back. Changing the catback will change the sound. Changing the Front pipe will change the volume.

Catless is much louder when paired with other aftermarket exhaust parts. If running stock exhaust otherwise, the difference won't be as noticeable.

Cats will also help to keep the rasp down, and again this is mostly noticeable when running other after market exhaust components, especially if its a catless header.

How about a catless resonated front pipe on a full aftermarket set up. how will it compare to a the same aftermarket set up with a stock front pipe

even catless resonated wont help much. Catback will contribute volume a lot.

when you say the nameless was tinny sounding, you mean specifically the FP/OP combo right? did the tinny sound go away by swapping out only the fp/op? or did you also do other exhaust mods at the same time?

Yup. that is correct. Just the nameless 2.5 FP/OP catted.

By swapping out just the front pipe and over pipe. Keep in mind, mine is now a resonated but catless front pipe. The difference in the way the car drove too was immediate. Much smoother, throttle response was apparent too as was the lack of tinny sounding. The dB level too was noticeably lower.

This was before I even got a touch up tune. Putting it on the dyno showed a 3 HP peak gain on the same tune as that of the nameless.

Picked up more torque and power over the rev range with adjusting the cam angles and ignition timing some more.

The difference is rasp.

I have a greddy axel back and I really like the looks and sounds of it. Its fairly quiet so I think if i went and installed a catless FP it would make it louder and not be over bearing.

Considering that the mid pipe has been said to not make a difference if any, in terms of HP or loudness of exhaust, I figured I just leave that stock.

power difference between

2.5 inch nameless fp/op catted versus 2.75 inch catless/resonated fp/op combo

Solid is Ultimate racing fp/op combo

dashed line is Nameless.

The dyna pack registered the atmospheric pressure, humidity and temp. The temp was also higher by 8 deg F, the humidity was slightly drier during the the ultimate racing catless run.
