Man if only Yamaha did the engine\exhaust sounding on the 86\FR-S\BRZ like they did on the LFA.....

Holy crap! best best read ever. The world is over if Subaru's can out perform a Porsche. The world needs to know this!

And speaking of Top Gear, the Cayman R was out beat by the BMW 1M. All of Porsche's cars are getting worse except the 911 of course.

I agree. LFA is the best followed closely by the Porsche Carrera GT. They sound like a freakin Formula 1 car!

But I think it will be even more entertaining because of the more progressive balance and lower limits.

BTW, did you get to sit in the FR-S? If so, what were your impressions in comparison?
I have sat in the FRS. It's obviously very much more comfortable. With the door closed, I have more hip and leg room (I'm not a huge guy. 5'8" 180 lbs--and dropping) than in the S2000. The seats in the FR-S are way more comfortable, and may even be more supportive (not sure without actually driving it).

The shifter in the FR-S feels crisp, but it's still not on S2000 levels (best gearbox in the industry imho). Interior design, materials, and build quality is honestly a toss up. They're both very spartan, not particularly 'high class,' but both get the job done well.

Seating position and pedal position is basically a toss up as well. The FR-S does have a telescoping wheel, which helps, but both cars are very good. Visibility is better out of the FR-S. Pedal placement is perfect in both cars, though (again, without driving it, it's hard to say for sure), I'd venture a guess that the S2000 is marginally better.

Honestly, the sound alone makes this car worth it. It's like buying a musical instrument.

Yeah, when I first heard they did some sound tuning on the car, I thought it would be like the LFA so I got really excited to hear it. But it turned out to just be the stupid cabin air intake thing.

As fellow 86/BRZ enthusiast brothers... lets not talk about that.

This is by far a ballsy and very impressive review. This car is definitely a game changer in today's car industry on so many levels. One cant help but think of the competition to come, and what other big names plan on doing to challenge such inspiring legacy.

On further note, im surprised no one has taken the time to mention the NSX comparison. Yeah the miata mention is obvious, and to put it against the porsche is pretty astounding. To compare it to one of the greatest performers to ever hit the racing 90's industry tells you something. Toyota is back, and it wants to bring back that competition it had once inspired almost 20 years ago. That alone helps me completely justify my purchase with not only one of the greatest compact cars ever built, but one that's built in my own generation. :happy0180:
