I'm not sure if you guys have figured it out yet or not but my car was doing that too for me almost every time I shifted with moderate acceleration from 1st to second and second to third. I checked my oil and saw it was low and put in some synthetic 0w-20 and haven't heard the noise since. Cant guarantee it will work for you but that was my fix!

Motor Oil?
Tranny Oil?
Hyrdraulic fluid for the clutch?

So they told me they diagnosed it with an electronic stethoscope, and the noise is coming from the Clutch Master.....just like Monogram said.
Part on order.

Wonder if they modified the part so the noise won't come back........

The honk never came back in mine; The crickets, however, that's another story.

I have noticed this same sound but I have also managed to investigate how it comes.

If I press clutch and still have some throttle pressed this sound come.

I dont get this sound anymore because I practiced to free throttle pedal before pressing the clutch

Hi guys, just wanted to give a VERY long-term follow-up on this in the hopes it may help somebody else. Many thanks to all but especially Monogram for all of his (accurate) assistance.

I took my BRZ in for some warranty work at the end of last winter, one of those issues was this honking noise. Wouldn't you know it, as soon as I brought it in the honking stopped. Turns out, the honking noise is VERY temperature (and possibly humidity) sensitive. I happened to bring the car in on a random 70 degree day. No dice. Got the car back and sure enough, it was mostly gone.

Well, it's winter again here in NY and almost as soon as the temperate entered the 40s the old honk came back. It seems to be at it's loudest between 30* and 45* but I haven't quite nailed down a pattern.

Anyway, I waited for a nice cold patch and brought it in. It took some convincing to have them try the master cylinder on the clutch but they did the work and that fixed my issue. I've had several days since in the bad temperature range and all's been silent. Love it.

Also had them tackle the crickets while it was in...new high-pressure fuel pump and now I don't know what to do with all of the silence. I'm going to need a better stereo.

Thanks again to everyone for all of your help!
