You won't be able to buy one at msrp. You heard it here first
Soichiro Honda must have told you this after he was speaking to some driver guy.

We already know there is going to be a huge markup. The sooner they get here, the sooner they get to the used market, the sooner the rest of the competition raises the bar and/or lowers prices. It has already been confirmed that it won't come to the US this model generation, so it's still a few years away. After the Focus RS.

I think rice_classic is right. Especially in racing where you're typically using very stiff roll rates and minimal suspension travel, front macpherson struts on a RWD car aren't too bad as long as series regulations allow you to dial in sufficient static negative camber. Plenty of BMWs/Porsches have done well in competitive production-based series like Pirelli WC.

But who knows maybe this is car every Honda fans been waiting for.

What's that saying, a fool and his money will soon be separated? Yeah, that's it.

The 2015 Type R isn't coming to the US - we're getting the next generation model. And it's

-not going to cost $40k ($30k tops)
-won't have markup (at least not after the first month)

You're out of your damn mind if you think otherwise.

Well have you ever looked at new corvett or Shelby? Even raptors and Trd pro Tacoma/4Runner/tundras ?
Sorry but some cars will have mark ups.
And type r is one of them.
Good luck trying to get good deal on them (if they come out)

Think about how much mugen fa5 was. All it was the exhaust, rim, suspension and body kit.
If new type r is priced at 30k I will buy one in heartbeat.

Tuners customize Honda Civic Type R for Tokyo Auto Salon

Tuners customize Honda Civic Type R for Tokyo Auto Salon

Honda's Civic Type R has received the aftermarket treatment from a couple of tuners for this year’s Tokyo Auto Salon.

The show kicks off today featuring a multitude of customized JDM models and as you would expect the latest and greatest Civic Type R is on display. Mugen is a top player when it comes to modifying Civics and for this year’s edition of the Tokyo Auto Salon it created a more aggressive styling kit for the Type R.

Work started on the front fascia where there’s a custom bumper featuring a beefier splitter finished in black to contrast the satin white body. Other black bits and pieces have been added as well, including the wider side skirts and a new rear wing lighter than the standard version.

The changes made by Mugen are purely visual as the mechanicals have remained untouched. It’s the same story with Modulo’s variant that comes with a slightly different body with flared side skirts, a new fuel filler cap, and some red accents.

Keep in mind that even though the Civic Type R was launched only last year, work on the new model is well underway and is expected to come out in the summer of 2017.

Also on display at the Tokyo Auto Salon is Honda Racing’s Super GT500 NSX CONCEPT-GT along with several iterations of the petite S660 roadster.
