Are we spoiled?

Been about 5 months owning my BRZ now, and I have to say I feel spoiled by our cars. When I'm in my car, I don't notice the good but instead always get reminded of the bad (notchy 2nd gear, how it runs better when it's a bit colder outside, ambiguous clutch, no power).

But then I had a chance to drive a friend's 2014 WRX 5 speed MT. While I admit the boost was REALLY fun and I'll probably get one down the road, it really made me appreciate our cars.

The wrx had a really long and clunky ass shifter, seats were disengaging, pedals were so weird I had a hard time heel toeing in the car (i heel toe just fine in ours) The clutch was a stiff one though and had lots of margin of error and was very forgiving. That was an interesting experience since we have to be pretty accurate/precise with our clutch.

The handling department goes without question, but I didn't think the WRX was that bad seeing as how it wasn't meant to beat our cars in the corners and the boost makes up for it.

What do you think? Are we spoiled by our cars?

Your experience makes me feel better about my car now.
I think we just demand perfection and not spoiled. Perhaps we love our car so much and want the best for it.

I love my car, I don't care about the little quirks..yes i have a tranny issue, but it seems to be going away. yes i ripped off half of my front skirt but that's my fault. yes I can't fit more than 2.5 people in the car - i don't care. I enjoy racking up 100 miles a day on this thing!

My buddy had a 12' wrx that we took to lunch on work break, and we'd switch it up and take mine now and then. It feels like a completely different car. You're much higher up, roofline is a lot taller, seats feel like they're only supporting your ass, shifter has a long throw like you said, clutch was super forgiving and soft - kind of like ours, brakes were meh, tons of body roll. Overall I really wasn't impressed. It really helped me to aid the decision between buying as he purchased his first.

I get back in my car and immediately I'm reminded of the low slunk down seating position.

My roommate has a Boss302 and he calls my brz a go kart.

The boost has left me a strong impression though. I will never boost mine since I don't have 10k to invest in the car (i'd rather keep as is and use that 10k for a downpayment towards the STI), but man that shit is fun.

I get the go kart reference for my car all the time too. My dad actually said that exactly when I told him I wanted the BRZ.

Nah, I'd rather save the 10k for OEM boost and keep my go kart

I dont think the car has too many 'bads' IMO. I had the car for about 3 months now and it only thing i can complain about is the paint. It sucks so bad i get pissed off sometimes.

Other than that, i love the car and driving it, i also get lots of compliments for the car (but this is just a plus)

I don't have any complaints about my BRZ, other than I can't justify owning 2.

I've been convincing myself otherwise...I think of it like a sock or shoe. I need two BRZs to function!

Thin, fragile paint is just part of the Subaru Experience(tm).

I'm like 200% satisfied with my car.

It's one of the best DD+Track cars ever in my opinion.
