Thanks for the detailed write up Sav. Got me me motivated to check in the engine bay. Inspection of the headlight connector reveals that I have the full 8wires already. Following the post by @HRTROB , the horn relay in the DRL position works. Car is high spec after Aug13. Now to go buy me a spare horn relay...

Cool stuff, I hope it works.

Mine has also got 8 pins, tenpin that is missing is on the headlight itself. I don't think you can easily see it without removing the headlight.

Vehicle On, Lights Auto, Handbrake Down

Subaru want R330, Toyota want R150 but got no stock - ordered and now we wait.
Used the Heater relay for now as that seems to be the least essential item.

R150 for just the relay?

Yep, didn't need to do any wiring on mine. I also checked under the steering wheel fuse box that the fuse was already there for DRL. Test first with horn/heater relay.

Looking back at earlier posts, and this doesn't appear nearly as bright as Sav's though...

Awesome, I wishbone was that simple.

The fact that they're on with the lights in auto means they're working. They should be very bright, it's probably just the photo making them look less bright.

Even though there are 8 wires you might also notice 2 pins missing inside your white block connector

If it was a simple relay swop your dealer shoudve contacted you to have the relay fitted as it was actually forgotten during the assembly.

Hi guys
I’m new to the forum. I’ve just purchased an 86!
Mine was made in 2013 and the DRL did not work. When searching for answers to this problem on the internet, I found this forum. I followed the advice of putting my horn relay into the DRL slot and it worked, so I got Toyota to order me the relay (the correct one has one extra pin than the horn one) and now they work perfectly! Thanks
