I would dig into the wheel and tire section and the Jackson Racing owners' thread before making decisions. They'll have a lot more first-hand knowledge than a random tire shop.

You don't need to stagger your tire widths. Identical sizes all around do better for handling, although the difference is small. You could run 17x9s with decent 245/40 tires at all four corners and be just fine.

You certainly can stagger your tires if you want to, for looks or additional traction or whatever. A pretty common setup for this is 18x8.5 front / 18x9.5 rear wheels, with 225/40 front and 255/35 rear tires. Or 235/40 and 265/35 tires. Staggered tire sizes will cause a little bit of understeer.

For the tires themselves, it depends on where you live and what the conditions are. If it's warm and sunny most of the time, pick up a decent summer tire like the Michelin Pilot Super Sport or Dunlop Direzza ZII. Good tires will make a huge difference in the feel of the car.

Lose weight not add it....

This car does not need to have weight added to the unsprung weight. The amount of torque with the SC still isn't going to need such wide tires and also going up to 18" rims adds to the equation. I lost 32lbs by going with a lightweight wheel and running Direzzas at 215/17 in front and 225/17 in the back. If you go wider you lose a lot of the perfect steering and catlike reflexes that the car provides. Tire Rack has everything you need. I've seen so many put wide tires and wheels on the car and have a heavier car with less precise handling. My setup changed the car into a better car in spades. Just something to consider. If our cars had a boatload of torque..... it would be wider tires for sure. An LS Swap would dictate this.

Enkei RPF1's in 17x8 or 9 + bigger/heaver tires aren't going to add very much weight, if any depending on specific setup. With wider tires you may lose some feel but you will gain traction, you just have to adjust how you read the car in order to use it.
