My car doesn't have that 3rd pedal on the far left OR that weird stick coming out of the console. Only thing resembling those 2 things is my parking brake and column gear selector, can someone tell me what those weird things are on that Cayman??

I suppose that all things staying the same, except perhaps for a financial windfall, this would be the replacement for my twin. Track time mandatory.

I like how Chris Harris had the sway bars adjusted soft in the front/hard in the rear for a bias to overseer. He did, afterall, rave about the GT86 in it's review.

For those that think the BRZ or 2015 GT86 suspension design handles better, I say pooey. You just have to drive it differently. Depending on preference (I'm with Chris Harris on this one), some people might better enjoy a '13 or '14 GT86 or FR-S. Then again that is assuming you keep the suspension stock.

Track-only Porsche Cayman GT4 spied

From the article:
We are not sure of what to make of this but chances are this is a track-only version of the recently introduced Cayman GT4. The prototype was spotted undergoing some intense testing at the Monza circuit in Italy and it appears to adopt a lower suspension and rides on race-spec lightweight wheels wrapped around in racing slicks.

If it's anything like the GT3's, the price won't plummet at all.

If I had the scratch, I'd be looking at GT-R / NSX / Supra successor instead. Alas, I think those require just a bit too much coin.
I can almost guarantee the next Supra will cost significantly less than the GT4.

Agreed. Porsche GT_ cars always retain A LOT of their value, and while demand for the GT4 is through the roof, Porsche is only selling around 1,000 a year or so. I wouldn't plan on seeing their value decreasing much (at least for a long time). I mean, just look up the Cayman R. You can still find some of those selling for $70k+.

Cayman GT4 tested. Surprising to hear about the understeer, but still a very impressive laptime. Sounds amazing. Soo much want...

While they were emphasising it as they were holding it to a quite high standard out of the box it does understeer a bit. Most people are setting the rear sway bar to stiff and keeping the front in either the medium or soft setting and like most cars you do need to get some more camber into it, especially at the front. All that said, if you look at the cars which it beat like the 458 which are more powerful and not exactly the family truckster it can't be understeering that much!

Porsche Cayman GT4 Clubsport announced for Los Angeles Auto Show reveal next month

Quote:
Feature double clutch gearbox

Porsche has disclosed plans to stage the world premiere of the Cayman GT4 Clubsport in November at the Los Angeles Auto Show.

It turns out that mysterious hardcore Cayman GT4 spotted a few months ago was indeed a track-only version as Porsche announced today a motorsport-spec variant will be show next month in L.A. with a flat-six 3.8-liter engine pushing out 385 bhp (283 kW) just like it does in the road-going car. While the regular model tips the scales at 1,340 kg (2,954 lbs), its racing sibling weighs 40 kg (88 lbs) less and comes with a racing bucket seat, six-point harness and a welded-in safety cage.

Other changes include a lightweight strut front suspension borrowed from the 911 GT3 Cup, along with a mechanical rear-axle differential and a race-spec braking system featuring steel discs that measure 380 mm for all four wheels. The six-cylinder engine will work together with a double clutch transmission equipped with shift paddles mounted on the steering wheel.

Full details will be released on November 18 when the Cayman GT4 Clubsport will be unveiled in L.A. Porsche Motorsport says the racecar will be homologated for various racing series such as Pirelli World Challenge, Continental Tire Sports Car Challenge, Pirelli GT3 Cup Trophy USA, Ultra 94 GT3 Cup Challenge Canada and also for club races organized by Porsche Club of America and other clubs from all over the world.

The order books will also open on November 18 and European customers will be able to buy the car through the Porsche Motorsport in Weissach while in United States it will be available via Porsche Motorsport North America.

Porsche Boxster S facelift spied testing at the 'Ring with 4-cylinder turbo engine [video]

[ame]http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=f18aEK0tBNY[/ame]

Quote:
Could have a 300 bhp 2.5-liter turbo

A near-production prototype of Porsche's upcoming turbocharged Boxster S has been caught on camera stretching out on the Nordschleife.

Porsche is just about ready to embrace an almost all-turbo lineup as after the 911 Carrera and 911 Carrera S made the switch to a turbocharged engine, the Boxster/Cayman is about to take the same path. Seen here is a lightly camouflaged 2016 Boxster S which no longer has the six-cylinder 3436cc engine as this has been replaced by a smaller and more efficient flat-four turbo.

It certainly sounds like a turbocharged engine and according to the latest gossip coming from Stuttgart the motor will have a 2.5-liter displacement and will develop somewhere in the region of 300 bhp (224 kW). The same engine will reportedly power the hotter GTS derivative where it will be massaged to deliver 370 bhp (276 kW). As for the base Boxster/Cayman, it is expected to employ a smaller 2.0-liter turbo pushing out around 240 bhp (179 kW).

Aside from receiving a new heart, Porsche's refreshed Boxster and Cayman duo will receive a series of subtle design tweaks along with some modest interior cabin revisions in typical Porsche fashion as demonstrated recently on the 991.2 Carrera models.

Expect to see the mid-cycle refresh for the Boxster and Cayman to come out early next year and it is believed in some markets the Cayman will be positioned below the Boxster.
