sadly i doubt it's real, or i should say high quality cf, i think it's just fiberglass with resin. the plastic coating has bubbles all over the edges, the cf pattern discontinue at the curves which is almost the most obvious giveaway. All and all it looks worst than this 30 bucks license plate holder http://www.bonanza.com/listings/Carb...0Z-G35/6733102

which is sad sad sad

They are real CF.

I've decided I'm going to take a photo of my car and turn the plate into a picture frame for my office. Shouldn't be too difficult.

Mine's not like that at all. Maybe I got lucky getting #3. It has a very clean finish on the top, the pattern continues around all corners as if bent around a mold, and on the backside you can feel the weave of the CF, and see the bends around all the edges.

I will say that around the front edge the resin can make it look like the pattern ends at the bends when looking at it flat on, but if you rotate it in the light you can see the pattern continue and it is very obvious on the back.

I have yet to receive my frame, but I saw one that belonged to another member and you see the pattern on the rear of frame as well.

That sounds like a great idea! I wanted to display my frame in my office, but that giant empty space in the center would have made it a bit boring.

Thanks. I played with the frame a little last night. If you are really careful, you can remove the tags on the back and relocate them to the front.

So, my plan is to get a good shot of the car, center and have it printed in a large enough format to fit the hole, relocate the "special" tags to the the bottom corners on the front of the plate, then mount the photo in the hole with a thin piece of plastic or glass and some cardboard backing. Probably will do some type of license plate mounting screws through the holes to fill in those gaps.

I also thought about find one of those places that makes speciality vanity plates to see if you could have the photo printed on a metal plate. Still doing some research on that. I bet one of those Mall kiosk places could do it (may not exist in states that require a front plate).

500 miles on mine already, sometimes i would just keep driving and lose track of time, its such a responsive car to drive.

2 questions.

Is anyone making a first 86 piece to go into the square spot behind the shifter? "cant really explain it better than that..but the square indent in the center console.....

is the number on our license plate frame our "official"number? im 56 of 86 then...and just figured we should all get together and make our own plaques with a limited run for just us first 86rs with VINs to show we are legit....
