New Subaru WRX STI Prototype

Looks like everyone was right about the future WRX STI having a version of the FA20... at least in Japan.

Interesting take on the yellow. Never thought it would look half decent.

Looks like they had some leftover paint after manufacturing the RS FR-S.

Why was the author so excited about a cat-back exhaust like he had never seen one?

The author called the engine an inline 4 too. Clearly, they are not all that knowledgeable.

I'm curious about the six piston front calipers. Was four just not cutting it anymore? Or is six just two better?

Good catch, don't they use inline engines for like airplane props?

Actually, a lot of your modern day piston engine airplane/helicopter engines are horizontally opposed 4, 6 or 8 cylinder layout architecture similar to the FA20s in our car. Lycoming makes a large majority of the engines in this category.

Yea, my CB750 and "Teg both had inline 4, I should have clarified that as two separate thoughts. I was just honestly curious if your average prop plane commonly used inline engines. lol

Yup, subaru salesman told me this when I test drove the BRZ.

I believe the Rotary is still used in airplanes too? Not totally sure though.

Unless it's a vintage WWI era airplane (or reproduction), you probably aren't going to find anyone rocking a rotary engine these days. Maybe you are thinking Radial engine? These engines are more common but still belong to the WWII era airplans. Post-WWII, the turbine engine became the engine of choice for most aircraft (turbojet, turbofan, turboprop, turboshaft).
