Because it isn't the entire windshield that's heated. It would be misleading to call it a heated windshield. Every car has a "heated windshield" anyway via the defroster function. The heating element embedded at the base of the glass is designed specifically to heat the wiper blades. The only reason they didn't put the elements on the blades themselves is because that would unnecessarily complicate them, make it more prone to breaking, and make replacement wipers more expensive and exclusive.

This is like rain sensing wipers. Sure its a cool party trick, but is it actually worth it?

And it is not the wipers the sense the rain, it is a sensor behind the wind shield

My previous vehicle had it and I wasn't a big fan. It wiped more often then I would. It had a variable speed too so it pretty much did whatever it liked, sometimes going crazy over nothing. Bugs seemed to trigger it too sometimes. So no, I don't think it is worth it.

I despise the bloody things in my wife's car but she loves them.
Two drops? Let's go like a sonofabitch for 3 minutes. Pissing rain? Yep let's give it one wipe every 1/2 hour or so.

Heated wipers are absolutely worth it if you do a lot of snow driving. They don't get hot enough to keep ice from building up but it does prolong the amount of time you have between getting out to clean them off. And that's only when driving through heavy snow. Light snow or stuff it works great.

My salesman told me it had an upgraded fuel injection system compared to the FR-S, also mentioned the heated wipers, and a bunch of other random B.S. that made me cringe. People wonder why these don't sell well and I just shake my head thinking about that guy. You can't sell a car you know nothing about! Luckily the twins sell themselves so it's not too big of a problem.

Dealers are notorious for not knowing a damn thing about these cars. I read an article about it when I was shopping, so I just went in with the assumption that I knew way more about the car than anyone that was going to try to sell it to me.

Honestly, that should be your attitude about whatever car you've picked out regardless. You have to do your research and always be prepared to dodge bullshit from anyone trying to sell you something.

Luckily it was a relatively harmless lie, so no big deal.

When I went to buy my car the only thing my salesman knew more then me about the car was how to drive it.. But he was nice enough to give me a 40 minute driving lesson on driving manuals after picking it up. Good ones are out there too.

The best salesman in the world can sell you things even without knowing what the actual f*** he is selling, and they are quite proud of this, as it turns out.
