It's not that bad, actually. I'm still seriously considering a lower bucket and designing some gismo to extend the steering wheel. Just can't clear the headliner with a helmet.

I thought we knew that the 2016 was effectively unchanged from the 2015. I'm fairly certain it was leaked that there were a few tweaks, but not a refresh.

I think 2017 model year is where we see the actual refresh.

i can almost guarantee they wont make a actual refresh after only 4 years of production most cars are 5-6 years and specialty cars like this, a bit longer since the demand is only a fraction to everything else they sell. i bet an actual refresh will be closer to 2020

for example the miata had a life of 8, 7 then 10 years for their generations. s2k was 10 years. rx8 was 8 years. rx7 was 7, 6 then 11 years. impreza was 8, 7, 7 then current gen. 300zx was 6 then 11 years. 350z was 7 years. 370 currently 7 years. audi tt 7 then 8 years. z3 7 years. z4 6 years

the average of those cars are 7-8 years

Rumors were just a couple new colors, and 8 speakers (instead of 6)... but no official word on those changes yet.

Refresh will happen one year after I buy one

I'm feeling the same... I don't know where people are getting their info from on a refresh, but these type of cars have a long shelve life.

The word for the JDM market 86 including those changes was official but we have had nothing on the Scion front yet.

People need to keep in mind that the refreshes are not always an improvement either. Attempts at bigger market share, stricter emission and safety requirements or pure financial decisions can, and frequently do, mean that the refresh is not as good as the original.

Waiting for the bigger and better new version can lead to disappointment.

What chassis/steering improvements? I thought the sti was pretty much ending up like the RS1 - cosmetic stuff.
The BRZ ts improved it through revised suspension, arms, bushings etc. It also uses the front strut brace and they used different bushings within the steering rack and made other changes to sharpen the steering response.

Called it hysteresis steering I believe. There's an article about it from motor trend which talked about it.

Again, I'm not saying it's a bad car, but I welcome a tuning division improving and highlighting the car's strong points with open arms.

You mention the Focus ST a bit. I have not driven it but considered it instead of the FR-S. A friend's GF has one and his comment after track and street time was "tons of torque steer".

Is that your opinion as well?

"Tons" is subjective.

It's more noticeable than a vw gti, but nowhere near as bad as an ms3. Pulls pretty good in 1st and a little in 2nd. Slight feeling of torque steer in 3rd sometimes at full throttle but it's not overwhelming.

The steering is also quick and precise on the car. But the seating position sucks and the pedal position sucks. The ONLY things I like about the st more than the FRS are the ride comfort and the torque.

I'm pretty lazy about following the changes. That's some cool stuff but in all honesty, put the old and new in a brown bag, I wonder if I would notice the difference driving them.

Not once did I interpret anything you said as negative. You have been quite clear about that all along. No worries, mate!

Rumor of new colors (blue and red) look to be solid from what I've seen.

I have no issues passing as long as the person I am passing does not try to keep me from passing them.

I go drop a gear and attempt a pass on someone who decides to accelerate to keep me from passing the FR-S just does not have enough go to compete.

Happened to me when this bitch in an Accord was doing 50 in a 55 so I drop to 4 to overtake and when she noticed she hit it. My sad little car just could not overtake her and as I crossed 65mph I backed off realizing it wasn't worth it.
