All of the rumors that a turbo STi BRZ coming out are true. They will have a carbon fiber roof, 270hp, and we even switched out the fuel pump to alleviate our valued customers from that annoying cricket chirp. We even plan to offer it at MSRP USD $32,995 with 0% financing regardless of your credit score or down payment.

The only catch is, it won't be coming to USA or Canada. You won't get the turbo, you won't get the cool aero pieces, you won't even be allowed the STi badge! I'm even gonna keep the chirps. Why? Because when I was a young lad growing up in Japan, I was deeply in love with a girl who was deeply in love with me. One summer, on a vacation with my love to the United States, she fell in love with another man. A car enthusiast. With tears in my eyes and shattered pieces of a once beating heart in my hands, I went home to Japan to plot my revenge.

I would return to America as the head of the North American division of a major auto manufacturer. I would then push my head office to make all kinds of amazing variations of some awesome cars, but argue that they would never sell well in USA. All of this in the hopes of crushing the hopes and dreams of the man who stole my love.

So cry all you want, ALL of your speculations are 100% fact, but NONE of the cool STi versions of any of the cars you want will ever reach these shores, HAHAHAHA!

True story, to this day I don't understand why Asian girl fall for foreigners so easily. I guess ppl all try their best to be different.

As a car enthusiast foreigner with an Asian girlfriend I don't know either. White girls just don't find me interesting.

You know what's really weird? As an Asian guy I've dated almost exclusively white women. Some of them have practically thrown themselves at me. Asian women are cool too but they always seem to be into white guys. Mixed race children have a lot of genetic advantages, maybe that's it?

Another car I hope to be able to buy.... in Gran Turismo.

Still don't know how I feel about the front, diffuser is a big large, like the the interior, hate the taillights (the rectangle part does not fit with any other part of the car), like the red trim on the spoiler, not a fan of the spoiler as a whole.

With Subaru's history of sports cars and making more power from the same package (Impreza > WRX > STI) why does Subaru torment us and not give the 200hp an upgrade it could easily handle? +50hp isn't exactly difficult to achieve with tuning and mechanical changes without boosting, right?

What's taking them so long to mention adding a turbo anyway? If any company was capable of adding a turbo, Subaru could. The aftermarket already has over a dozen available.

With the BRZ selling, what, less than 7000 units a year? I don't think it makes financial sense for Subaru to put a turbo model through all the regulatory bs to get certified for US sale. Hell, the Camaro sells more in an average month than the BRZ does in a year. I'm sure if our cars were selling at that rate Subaru would have pushed an STi version down our throats already.

They sell at that rate because they make them at that rate as much as anything. They said right from the start it was going to be a low production car aimed at a very specific buyer. It isn't like there are 10s of 1,000s of then sitting on lots that haven't sold. If they wanted to sell more they would make more and market the crap out of them. They aren't doing either of those.
You hit the nail on the head though as they won't make a turbo to please a an even smaller segment of the market no matter how much we scream we want it. They were pretty clear on that right from the start as well.

There are so many reasons against making one (eating WRX and FRS sales) that it doesn't make sense for Subaru to make one so that people can trade in their BRZ and have them be saddled with used BRZ non turbos.

I just think it's kind of an insult to badge the BRZ with STI and all it has is appearance upgrades, nothing at all to the engine. Which is not typical of what's known as STI since on a WRX it means moar powah!

I think the BRZ STI is to the BRZ looking at the WRX STI what the Mitsubishi Lancer OZ is to the Lancer when looking at the EVO. You ask, why even bother? It's still the same car, and the appearance changes aren't even all that great, I can buy better looking trim parts myself.

STI has done non-turbo upgrades for a few years now, under the "tS" logo (tuned by STI). However, the U.S. wouldn't really understand that translation, so Subaru seems to think. The U.S. wants an actual "STI". So I can see why there's confusion there. The BRZ tS does have "STI" logos on it, but then there's the "impossible to own" "tS" badge on the trunk that sums it all up. This Concept is just hype to help justify more money for STI parts.

I noticed that SubaruGenuineParts.com stopped selling the STI aero lip kit from the Series.Blue. Subaru might have put a stop to that. They also stopped selling the Special Edition STI wheels for the 2015 WRX. So this is more like Subaru of America begging Subaru of Japan to just continue pushing STI parts to the U.S.
