Yes it takes time to learn, but its worth it, trust me.
I sure as hell don't want the latter with AP1. It's one of the reasons why AP1s get into accidents & silly rear snappings like what I quoted above, and make it less fun to drive, knowing that some forces beyond your control, or even a small puddle on the road, is serious enough to back you down. One of the components that make a sports car a "Drivers' car" is predictability (in handling and chassis dynamics department). If predictability in a car like AP1 sounds boring, then VTEC soundtrack and the well-matched 6MT/clutch should more than makeup for the loss in "enjoyment" department.

The clip above, with everything stock except the carbon LSD should give drivers the opportunity to safely explore 9/10ths or even aggressive 10/10th (with proper wheels/tires & proper alignment) of wringing out AP1s. And look at the (almost) minimal steering input and effort... it almost looks like as if the guy in the video above was having fun wringing out an FF car like a DC2 integra type R, and that's a compliment.

What?

A locking diff is a limited slip diff...

Are you confusing a live rear axle or welded diff? Or 1 way vs 2 way?

You have absolutely no idea what you're talking about... it might help if you had some actual seat time in s2ks with a clutch type LSD and the oem Torsen.

Regardless, neither the BRZ nor S2k make enough power to have any issues putting power down to the ground.

I've been thinking long and hard about parting ways with my AP1 when I can find a Whiteout FR-S... I love my S, but it's also my daily which means it can be a little exhausting on long trips, not to mention loud on the highway (wind noise, radio blasting so you can hear it, AND an invidia exhuast...)

The biggest thing for me is that I feel like I don't love S2000s as much as I once did. This is the 3rd time I've owned one, so it sort of has a 'been there, done that' type feeling to it, which is another big reason why I'm leaning towards the FR-S... Looking forward to driving one though so I can figure it out for sure!

Honda and even BMW will not make a car with a Formula 1-inspired, highly-tuned-from-factory and reliable N/A engines to die for within reach for middle class like the M52 VANOS and F20C VTEC for a very long time, so don't dump your S2K right away.

New global emissions rules pretty much killed pretty-sounding, F-1 inspired 8K-9K RPM N/A engines for middle class; dull-sounding turbo and hybrid/electrification is the new name of high performance game, and the only way to experience pure N/A in a new car is now only reserved in exotic class (Porsche GT3, Ferrari Italia, Lamborghini Aventador... with gas guzzler penalties)

Just give your S2k a mugen hardtop, a decent coilover to soften up for daily-driving like MOTONs and call it a day

I think it has more to do with what car buyers these days want. Even buyers of performance cars say they demand excellent passing power in top gear (which is going to hurt fuel economy without forced induction), that downshifting is a pain in the ass, that revving high is a pain in the ass. I wouldn't knock electrification, because it does improve low speed driveability, and that's important for a street car!

But I agree, the S2000 is really special and cars that come with a racecar like character from the factory might never happen again.

Ha, maybe in a year or two, you can sell it to me

Yeah your right, it is pretty noisy in the cabin, and you can feel every single pothole and crack on the road if lowered.

I love S2k's tho
