The FRS is killing the BRZ in sales. It's crazy how one has the upper hand over the other even though they are nearly the same!

Sales are really going down on these cars...I think the 2016 will be the last model, and then they need to revamp it to get some new buyers.

This was always the intent. There are simply far more Scions made and they have the cheaper price point.

With the upcoming revamped MX-5 I expect sales to get even worse. I wonder if we will even get a major refresh or if Toyobaru will just milk this car with minor changes for the next three years or so and then kill it off.

Oh, I knew that. It's just the simple fact that the FRS is nearly doing double the sales all-time compared to the BRZ, it's just mind blowing to a point.

Part of me wants to see a major refresh, and part of me wants to just see minor changes until it's discontinued. The MY16 has already been declared to be unchanged right?

It comes down to the size of the dealer network (which also means marketing $). There aren't many Subaru dealers down here, they are more popular in the snowy parts of the country.

There has been some discussion about the declining sales previously in this thread. I would attribute some of the low sales the last couple months to one of the most brutal winters in history for the eastern half of the US.

The other contributing factor, which is on-going, is that now the new model year twins have to compete against used versions of themselves. Many, including me, would opt for a clean used car over purchasing a new one and taking the huge depreciation hit. There is nothing on the 2015 that appeals to me over a 2014. I even like the old style antenna more than the cheesy sharkfin they went to. All the other upgrades can be purchased and bolted on if you want them.

If it is going to be discontinued after maybe two more model years, then I think it'd be pretty sweet that we sorta have an exclusive car in our hands.

So far there is no info released for the North American market. But the press release for that JDM special edition listed only some minor changes for the regular 86 there so I don't think we will see much.

The Camaro is at the very end of the current gen and the new model will be out soon. The new Mustang has probably stolen market share as well since it is getting such good reviews. The Gencoupe is also do for a new model in the near future.
